This song was from the soundtrack to the movie saturday night fever with John Travolta. Barry found his falsetto at recording the song nights on broadway. ""There was a request from Arif Mardin, He was a great record producer during the song 'Nights On Broadway' for the album 'Main Course', "And he said, 'Can any of you , scream in falsetto.'So, you know, give us an ad-lib or a scream at the end." Barry went out, tried it and wondered what was coming out from his mouth. People wanted more with this voice and so they made their next album with some songs in this style. While they were mixing the new live album in France the film's producer, Robert Stigwood, asked them if they wanted to compose the music for his film. The group declined to read the script, but said they already had some song titles like "Stayin' Alive", "Night Fever" and "How Deep Is Your Love" in mind. Three days later, a tape with the demo versions of all the songs was on the table at Stigwood in London, which were then used for the choreography and the recording of the dance numbers. The soundtrack was, until Michael Jackson's "Thriller" came along, the most successful music album of all time. With about 40 million copies, it is now behind "Bodyguard" (about 44 million) in 2nd place of the best-selling film music. We learned the moves, where all are dancing the same in the movie in our dancing school in Austria and danced it in the discos! Thanks for your reaction, subscribed! maybe you can make subtitles?!

A fact on this song. It is infact not written as a disco song but more an R&B/Funk song. It was released in 1976 in the album Children of The World. And yes it went number 1 in the US. The second of 14 number 1's they wrote from 1975 to 1980. A few other songs to react to from this album are Love So Right, again a high falsetto song and Love Me where Robin is lead. They later reused it in the Saturday Night Fever movie especially for the dance scene you see clips of in the video.

The Spirits Having Flown Tour was their biggest tour ever, from June-Oct in '79 with 56 shows in North America. They took their families (including the band & families!) & their parents....& leased the Boeing 720 jet that was previously used by Led Zeppelin. The plane was all newly custom redone with specially designed logo across exterior....& had a film crew capturing highlights of the shows, which was aired on NBC Thanksgiving of '79.🎼The live footage on this particular video was shot by that film crew👍!

It's fun to watch a youngin smile while watching and listening to the music that was HUGE when I was a kid. I was too young to go to discos back then but they got a lot of radio play, and when SNF was released the Bee Gees were HUGE! It was like the Thriller of the late 70's, you had to be hiding under a rock to NOT hear it. It was one of the last examples of a band you could sing and play instruments with no digital assistance. Old music = good, New music = sux

As far as the Dancing in the Discotheques (Night Clubs) it’s ALL TRUE!!!!! It was made famous by the Movie Saturday Night Fever featuring John Travolta who was the Man who was dancing in the video. Back during the late 70’s Deney Terrio had His very own show on TV called Dance Fever.

T.L. Another great reaction and comments on your part!! Another good Bee Gees song you'd probably like and I recommend is "Tragedy" from their 1979 Album "Spirits Having Flown" Well into the song at a peak point Barry Gibb actually cups his hands around the mic (his idea) and makes an explosion sound with his mouth, I think you'll like it. I was in my early 20's in that Era..I remember those days well.

So funny for a guy like you to be appreciating the Bee Gees. They have so much music to delve into. Spanned several decades. They're not just disco. Go down the rabbit hole!

You need to watch the movie "Saturday Night Fever" it blew the lid off the whole decade, in the 70's- early 80's we had so much fun! Everyone was just interested in dancing and the music from The BeeGees, Earth Wind and Fire, Rose Royce, Heatwave, The comodores etc... Life was good!

Oh wow, I just noticed Andy Gibb! While Robin and Maurice may have been twins, Andy was Barry’s mini-me for real. So sad, but also great that you chose this video. Well done! ❤

It is a real thing if you can dance well. You make your space, but people will move out of the way and give you the floor, if you can hold it.

A lot of people took dance lessons so they could hit the dance all together, even "older folks", not really that old. The Bee Gees got everybody up & dancing !

Many on first watching this video who don't remember it from back in the day ask who is the dancer (John Travolta and the scenes are from 'Saturday Night Fever' that this song is from the soundtrack of) and who is the little guy by Maurice's microphone (Andy Gibb, their younger by over a decade little brother who had a very successful solo career in his teens and 20s but died of heart failure a week after his 30th birthday just when he was about to join the group). For the record, my mother and her friend were the "bad asses" (yes, they were girls) who the floor was cleared for for them to dance, they were that good. My mother went onto be a professional dancer.

BTW, the brothers Gibb, ( where the name Bee Gees come from) began singing in 1958 as little kids. The family moved to Australia, and they had a number 1 hit with Spicks and Specks. You really need to see them as kids. Bee Gees Medley it's called
