One tip for ship scrapping: it's better to do this in Vykeen systems as you'll get more fighters and fighters have the best odds of giving storage augmentations.
@chriswilliams10962 жыл бұрын
Good tip. Also, keep a note of the names of the ships you scrap - if you find that a particular named ship drops SAs then others of the same name, regardless of class, will also drop SAs. In a busy space station you can just wait for the known SA droppers to drop in and ignore the rest.

I personally prefer to scan. I use all the other faster methods in addition, but only sparingly. I get my principle large scale nanites from scanning if I am RP'ing an honest game. My secret is patience, as to get the big nanites, you must scan all the animals on a planet that has 6 or more species. You combine that with uploading and turning discoveries in to your science guy or Helios, and the nanites climb just fine while you explore and discover. (ps. with scanner upgrades, it earns good units as well, at the same time)

The trading and refining mechanics are almost entirely useless compared to the more lucrative methods of obtaining profit.
@blazerorb Жыл бұрын
Yeah. One cool way might be an investment mechanic for missions. Early game, when you’re poor and don’t have ways of getting things fast, missions have low rewards. Once you have more stuff, and better ways of getting more, then you pay to increase the rewards from missions. I’m not actually sure what would be the best currency cost. Originally I thought nanites themselves. But maybe units scale nicer with your save’s “progression”. And the best answer is probably requiring different gathered materials, crafted materials, boss kills, and generally just anything, tuned to how difficult that thing is to do.
@pwnomega45622 жыл бұрын
you also turn that living fluid/slime you find on direlect freighters into runaway mold which then turns into nanites, so the freighters give you more than one source of nanites
@magisterrleth31292 жыл бұрын
The biggest problem with that is the refining time. You could do it, but it's only viable if you have a portable refiner and let it run while you continue to do other things. And the amount of Nanites you get is pitiful, you're better off hunting Sentinels or cataloging ecosystems.

I was in a red system looking for cadmium and found a runnaway mold spot, so I built a base around it like others do. There also was, within base paramaters, a spot for me to mine cadmium and nitrogen. So I built extractors and storage for them. Now this mold farm yields about 14,000 mold. Between three medium refiners it takes about 10 minutes total to turn them to nanites but every time I get over 3000 nanites. Thats enough for me, cus all you gotta do is just fly to space and come right back and they respawn. Then while they refine, I mess around with the mines I got. Usually I just jump to my other activated indium mines to collect and then come back, do it again. Good to know theres other methods to help out too. :)

I have timed myself and posted results in the Jason Plays discord. But in summary, making Delicious Stews is fastest way that doesn't cost you any money (might be 2nd fastest overall). Though, arguably more boring. Ship scrapping, as you showed remains the fastest method that I've seen. For science, I timed Harvesting/Processing/Selling (200 Fungal Mould/50 Veg. Stews) for Nanites. Here are my results: Total Time: 24m 47s - Yielded 4941 Nanites (avg. 3.32 nanites per second) Breakdown as follows: Harvest: 20 seconds End of 1st Processing: 4:28 End of 2nd Processing: 4:13 End of 3rd Processing: 4:20 End of 4th Processing: 4:25 Travel to Anomaly, walking to Chronus (via ship, pulsing out of atmosphere): 1:13 Selling 50 Stews: 4:48 ----- Summary: 16 (4 x 4ish) minutes of doing nothing, waiting for nutrient processing. Excellent video! Those tables help a lot to take decisions in a game like this. Indeed this is the quickest way ... and pretty fun also! But sometimes you don't want or you don't have time to spend scrapping ships and need instead to be going from here to there collecting materials to improve the base or something like that. Those things tend to take several minutes (hours sometimes) and in the meantime you come and go many times, so runaway mould is interesting there too, because it re-spawns on its own, and you can leave the refiners working while you're building or doing other things. Without realizing it, you'll probably get 10k or more in one long game session. And, as typically you'll be playing again sometime, then the process repeats again. So, that's not quick as scrapping, but it's natural with the flow of the game, so I would recommend to have a base near runaway mould spawn spots and refine those too in between.

At first it was hilarious, to see reindeers, dinosaurs and mysterious abominations burn and ragdoll as I unleash a torrent of plasma fire on them. After a while it started to feel a bit pitiful and sad, but that's the moral price you pay for getting nanites, right. The last part of the process was really boring, but I made it through by watching some YT videos at the same time. Turns out, Only about 8000 nanites was enough to buy all the absolutely necessary basics. I guess now I'll just start hunting for an s-class ship and an s-class assault rifle and then I can spend the remaining nanites on upgrading those.

Wondering if Mr. Beeblebum is an architect or engineer IRL? As something like an Occam's Razor fan, I find simply harvesting the cores while avoiding the horrors a faster solution than setting up base camps and building pens. My specific tactic? First, you'll need strong personal shielding, a jet pack with good tank capacity and decent initial boost figures, and good jumping skills. For a single structure abandoned building start at one corner. When the horrors emerge, leap the building to the far corner. The idea is to avoid where the horrors will target you. Be quick; they show in gradually building numbers but are individually very slow to react. Don't be greedy; hit only one or two eggs at a time. You'll criss-cross the structure until it's done. As soon as you shoot a core, press and hold your collect button even if you don't see the core. Odds are you're harvesting it anyway. Eventually, horrors multiply such they surround the structure. When they overwhelm the site, wait for the spawn to subside by spending time on the roof and practicing your aim picking them off. After Worlds Part 1 Liquidators, they yield rancid flesh, which appears to be quite valuable, and mordite. Repeat until all eggs collected. Use the same method for the larger abandoned buildings, but start in the middle then work to the corners. The roof is the safest place. Both the horrors and their acid projectiles clip, so they can attack you at or below ground level from within and under the building. So stay off the deck and don't tunnel. Horrors will attack line of sight, so if you're on the roof, they array outside to spit up at you. Roofs cover you and grant elevation advantage for your return fire. And you can track your collecting progress from relative safety. Practice makes perfect: Start on normal saves before moving to permadeath attempts. If you're more of a scavenger player than a builder or large scale farmer, this gets you good money and nanites with a little fun action on the side. And if you dig building stuff, run with Beeblebum, who is about the best organized and most polished and informative NMS teacher on KZbin, or just about anywhere.

I find it fun to discover all the fauna on a planet and it can give around 250 nanites per species. I don't waste time on planets where one or more species are rare underground as they usually take too long to find. I can often get over 2000 nanites within 10 minutes on a planet with 8 or more species.

Personally, my new favorite way to gain nanites is farming sentinels. I spent basically a couple hours doing it and got 50k to upgrade my ship in no time.

thanks for the guide! it gave me good info to consider. I was stacking sentinel killing missions and selling tech from the glass but these method are less combat focus which is nice if you just want to relax.

I stumbled across ship scrapping a week ago and earned enough Nanites to buy everything in the tek tree in about 6-8 hours of gaming whilst i waited for an exotic to turn up. By the time i had the exotic, i already had enough storage mods to fully upgrade the ship along with all the nanites i needed for the tek tree... No brainer farming method, fully kitted out for about £20 million and 6-8 hours

Ship Scrapping is def a great way for many reasons, it results in a good range of valuables.
@barriem1192 жыл бұрын
Yep this is the way. If you're also ship hunting whilst faming nanites it's great. I switch the space station every hour so i can see as many different ships as possible. The storage augs are a real bonus too!

Runaway mould is very easy to get a lot of quickly via curious deposits. You usually get over two full stacks (19,998) per deposit, and they respawn at the same place if you unload the area. The best thing to do is to set up teleporters at several curious deposit sites and just go back and forth via the teleporters. You get 2000 nanites per stack of runaway mould so it can take just a couple of minutes work for 10,000+ nanites once you've set everything up. You can also kill sentinels for salvaged glass to get sentinel upgrade modules, which you can sell for 480 nanites each. What I do is find one or several planets with curious deposits and high sentinel presence, set up teleporters at multiple deposit sites and mix mining those with killing sentinels. IMO the time needed to refine doesn't matter much, refiners are cheap to make so it's easy to split stacks between many that refine at the same time. And it's not like you need to just sit and look at them while they refine.

absolutely wild, I just played the game and got way more nanites than I needed only about 12 hours into the game lol not even done with the settlement task line yet.

Oh my god... I didn't know I could refine so many mats into nanites! I only knew about Runaway Mould. I've vendored so much pugnium, platinum, and hundreds of larval cores.

Very nice! I found the work around with larval cores hilarious, yet very smart! I think that between the word this vid is about getting larval cores (28 pieces is over 1 billion of units) so you can sell them and buy ships Nice!

5:48 to be fair, the main problem with refining gold and silver (a setup I’ve hair for like 3 years now) is that you can’t build enough refiners in a single base to simultaneously refine all the gold and silver you acquire!
@Beeblebum Жыл бұрын
Well, you can glitch as many refiners in a base as you want... still, I find it too much hassle anyway and also time consuming, especially compared with the other methods (And the new recent ones).

Ship scrapping is my goto method. I dismantle all the tech I can from the ships and you never have to buy wiring looms again. I also don't sell the mango gold etc, that gets refined once into precious metal which isbusualky worth about double and only takes a second.

I can farm nanites off Cronus fast enough to purchase everything in the Anomaly in a couple hours including the time to make the dishes. Set up 4 groups of 4 nutrient processors to turn fungal mould into delicious vegetable stews, the 4 groups will keep you busy enough. 200 fungal mould yields around 4795 Nanites.

For me it was much more fun to discover species on planets and getting nanites when all found. The point is though, avoid plantes with Rare Underwater and Rare Underground animals. The rest of them are super easy to find.

I agree whole heartedly with DeadSpine (just below). I know the "glitches" are there, but for me, what's the point? It's not fun, the end result feels hollow. Two things I'd change: All items stack to 9999 and more tech slots. Thank you for the great guide! Subbed and following. All the best to you Sir!

With the horrors I just bring a neutron cannon and stun grenades. Cannon a cluster to break them all open at once, stun lock the horrors while you collect. Then just jetpack your way around doing more of the same. Cuts the time down to seconds. For ships you can also just salvage crashed ships if you are starting out and don't have a lot of money. Repair launch thrusters and pulse engines and fly it in like that. All the kinds of slime can refine down into nanites. But only really worth it in the suit refiner so you can do it in the background.
@nich4792 жыл бұрын
Hey folks, its a lot easier to just buy the "suspicious technology" modules from outlaw stations and then unpack them, and then sell them to the mod vendor for nanites. Once you get used to it, its pretty easy to hit 10k nanites in an hour or so from hopping to station to station without much real effort.

I find that the best way is to farm sentinels. if you get 2 spawner sentinels they will spawn new sentinels at the same rate as you can kill them. as long as you don't kill the spawners it can go forever. you getquite a bit of pugneum but mainly you get salvaged glass which can drop sentinel thechnology. with a fully upgraded weapon it is possible to get around 90.000 Nanites per hour
@Robert-vk7je2 жыл бұрын
Tldr: Ship scraping is the conversion of Units into Nanites by clicking through a lot of menus. I like to hunt for crash landed ships, make them flyable and scrap them at a station. It's considerably slower, but I get immersed in the life of a galactic scrap hunter.

Find a cluster of runaway mould. Then search due north or south 1000u or so until you find the next procedurally generated cluster. I found 4 clusters and put a base by each one. It takes about 5 minutes to fly, land, get in minotaur, harvest, back in ship, repeat all 4 clusters. Get 20000 runaway mould legally = 4000 nanites every 5 minutes, I think it's the best way. I found two clusters close and put landing pads facing towards the other. Zoomed between the pair really quickly once you muscle memory the required button pressing lol

Thx for this compare of Nanit production👍, I'm pretty new to the Game now since I haven't played it on Normal Mode for a pretty long time 😅. That slimy crap that drops of chests can be converted at least into runaway mould, I think this could be a nice earning of Nanits by the Way, just to have some more Nanits in between good enough I guess.

Since Outlaws you can buy Hadal Core and Larval Core on the pirate stations, but it's still fastest to just scrap ships. These days since I've done it the hard way long enough, I just ....... 10x refiners with stacks of tainted metal go BRRRRR..
