Be aware that this guide is no longer fully up to date since recent updates and other solutions are available to make Nanites. However - I have personally not found a quicker method than the No1 Method described in this guide. *Note:* Activated Indium Farms are also totally nerfed and will hardly make you any units.

Beebs, @ 1:55 You can jump between Outlaw stations. The ones marked with the Big Red Skull are 'Normal' stations that you cannot jump to, but the Outlaw stations are the ones marked with a Little White Skull at the bottom, and you can jump between these. I have no idea why HG decided to make it confusing.

The only thing I'd mention about ship scrapping is that although it certainly tops the other methods in terms of time and yield, it does require considerable capital. Most of the other methods get you nanites with far lower resource investment, so probably better for early game. I'd also add about the best way to get nanites early game is scanning all the animals on a planet. Yout get a 250 nanite bonus per animal, but only if you scan all on a planet. If there are no cave creatures, which can be very difficult to find, you can earn thousands in minutes (2000 nanites for 8 creatures, 3000 for 12) and earn money scanning to boot.

I still do the runaway mold method because it makes nanites while i do other stuff. I have four or five bases built around the runaway mold and I just jump from base to base gathering it. A couple of those bases have 25+ balls (one 27, other 28) and the rest are over 20, so fill up my exosuit and ship at each one, then I head to my "micro refinery" where I have a bunch of refiners set up to process it. Then I do other stuff and go back to the refinery to pick it up whenever I want. I've always got about 100k+ nanites on hand. Plus, it's fun finding a big stash of mold so I hunt for better farms and decommission my old ones as they get replaced. The fact that I can jump to one mold farm, collect, then jump back to the other mold farm for a fresh batch I don't see as any more of an "exploit" than jumping from station to station to buy and sell upgrades, or ship scrapping, and certainly not more of an exploit than not killing the summoner so you keep spawning regular sentinels to kill and collect glass from. What I do see as an exploit would be doing a refiner glitch to make more glass or mold, or using any other dup glitch. Also, I like that sometimes I can just leave the mold refining and leave the nanites for other people to come grab.

Great video as always, thank you. I've played about 10 hours on normal. Took on my first Nexus mission to get some nanites, which was killing 59 monstrosities. Went to the abandoned building but only 30 of them spawned, and no other buildings from what I could find and they didn't respawn. Gave up, loaded a save which put me back at the Anomaly. Went to a sentinel planet and just started killing them and quickly found I could take out the five waves of them with the normal bolt caster without a scratch on me and that got me nanites lol. Might have to raise the difficulty. I mined a hole to hide in from the extreme weather during the fight.

I never have space for ship scrapping and I liked the activity of the sentinel hunting. However I am not as efficient as I do it on a normal planet. But seriously, with my aim I can't keep up otherwise 😂

I'm glad the sentinel hunting is the most efficient as its also the most fun in my personal opinion. It would be cool if hello games boosted the worm harvest rates as thats also a fun challenge, maybe also make them drop a special upgrade module that we can sell for nanites.
@scubasteve21892 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad you tested the larval cores and other items from a pirate system. I stumbled on that myself and thought it could be a decent way to build nanites, even though it’s expensive. I also figured it wasn’t as efficient, but worth doing when you roll into a pirate system still. 🤷🏻♂️
@macgyveriii28182 жыл бұрын
It's true. I use the method as part of my usual NMS routine, since I'm rolling in the cash from passive frigate missions. I log in, get my frigate rewards, sell my stuff, send them all back out, go to pirate station, buy all the cores and packages, buy the di-hydrogen & tritium (make frigate fuel), then sell the upgrades from the packages. Rinse and repeat the next day or weekend I log into the game.

Good guide. For me, it's all about knowing how to get the nanites then do using each method that applies to what I'm currently working on. Atm, I'm progressing to the core of my current galaxy and I have a couple Derelicts that I do once a day for an S class module and a bulkhead. I get about 6k nanites from the two derelicts then as I jump to the core, I'll hit up pirate stations or 3* economies buying up hadal cores, larval cores, hypnotic eyes, contraband, living slime and (the crap that living slime turns into). In 3* systems I'll buy up all the trade goods, both at the station and on my freighter, then make the next system I go to the right type to sell the trade goods at be it pirate or another 3*. I'll also pick up any passive missions or do missions that reward me a bulkhead or starship storage augmentation. If I land on a planet, I'll attempt to scan all the critters and scan as much as possible, maybe take out a sentinel pillar first if it has aggressive sentinels or just kill waves of them if I'm in the mood. I'll do some daily Nexus missions periodically to keep them from capping and rotate my frigate missions while my living slime refines and craft up fusion ignitors and stasis devices as I get the parts just to keep my inventory clean. Geodesite and Iridesite, and their respective parts, come regularly enough that I even squeeze in a bit of platinum refining periodically and I'll refine pugneum if I get a full stack. In both cases I return the leftovers to my running stacks. I make about 20k nanites a day just doing things along the way and plenty of units. My base set up also gives me enough materials to make 20 fusion ignitors and 20 stasis devices as well as around 500k activated indium, plus they're set up with a trading rotation in mind. I take home over 1.5 billion units per run and only have to do it when I want some cash.

I remember for the longest time just refining runaway mold until the most recent updates, currently I think that the outlaw stations are the best way for getting nanites fast because they dont take a lot of money but they are also low risk which was a big factor for me because i was on a perma death save and had already been close to dying more than a couple times

Your completely thorough guide got my sub! I really like the tables you create for the best value/time. I had been going around refining residual goop I found... I do think I'll stick with the free gathering methods for larval and hadal cores as buying ships and cores costs money in the long run. Great vid!!

I just planet hop and scan every lifeform on each planet as it yields pretty good habits when you go to discoveries and turn it in. Plus with good scanner mods get boosted credits for scanning each type (fauna, minerals and flora) and I usually make about 2-3mill per planet I set down on just for scanning stuff. The nanites you get for scanning all fauna depends on how many there are. Think you get about 2200-2500 for scanning 11-12. I prefer this method as I get to explore, quest and have fun while i make money and nanites

Do you know if it's a bad idea to do the sentinel farming shown here (for glass) on the highest aggression level planets? I went to one I had found before and was immediately attacked before I could even build a base. So maybe I should go with the medium instead? Or is there a way to placate them? I know there is the cloaking device that I just got (only 10 sec lasting though) and you can shut down all sentinels with that column device, but I'm worried that's permanent (or can it be reversed?).

Nice video :) I'm a little surprised you don't have "Fungal Mould farming into Delicious Vegetable Stew" as an option. By my calculations in the past, with an array of nutrient processors, I believe it comes in at about 45.1 seconds per 150 nanites. Which would make it a great option for players lacking the cash (or the nanite expensive shields and weapons to fight sentinels). Main drawback being the tedium of selling them to Cronos, and less fun than shooting up the baddies. Good option for the passive folks though.

Lowest Effort (but not fastest) for me I grow mordite on my freighter, cook it into meat flakes, meat chunks, and finally mystery meat stew then go the the Anomaly and feed them all to Cronus, using a AFK Macro, leave the game running for an hour to feed him... technically still 'honest' just relies on an autopilot and again, takes huge Time, but Low Effort.

Sort of? With upgrades it's kinda the best well rounded.
