Imagine if Barrett had been secretly recording at his home for all those years and there's a box of tapes just waiting to be discovered...wishful thinking.

@MissJensk1 Yeah I know Gilmour wasn't the origional producer. What I read however was that they ommited a lot of Barrett's better work like Opel in favour of bad mixes like the page turning on She took a long cool look at me. The origional producer is quoted in one of the Barrett biographies as being furious at the finished product, due to Gilmour and Waters.

LOVE the stratospheric notes on the 2nd false start, what range! Syd envisioned (and surpassed) Alec Ounsworth's and Jeff Mangum's sound 30 years prior to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Neutral Milk Hotel with that one attempt, Lol! Thank you so much for posting x

@Nic01224 A lot of people seem to think Gilmour was the producer of this album, but in fact my brother Malcolm Jones was the original producer , Gilmour was only brought in later to finish it. It was thanks to Malcolm that the album was ever recorded at all.

any response to the allegations he choose bad mixes to sabotage syd?
@MissJensk14 жыл бұрын
@@kevinr.3542 Gilmour? I don't have any knowledge of that.
@kevinr.35424 жыл бұрын
@@MissJensk1 someone commented in another video that the original producer, possibly Malcolm I'm not sure, had issues with Syd and sabotaged the album with a hasty mix. It's either bs or possibly someone twisting something from an interview.
@pepebotella9714 жыл бұрын
Your brother is a hero, i admire him. Gimour and waters ended the album, but in a very poor and amateur way, and Malcolm wasnt happy with it.

The 3rd false sounded great, Syd Barrett why oh why did Madcap Laughs get released the way it did? Its been well documented that from Waters, I suspect not so much Gilmour, the final release was "revenge" bearing in mind they had some very very good takes, still sat in vaults somewhere.

A sad story. Syd Barett was a talented, gifted young man. He founded Pink Floyd at the age of 19. He was kicked out at the age of 22!! When he was recording his two solo albums, Syd was on the verge of schizophrenia!!! Drug addiction is an illness... Syd had the wrong friends... Unfortunately, he continued to take drugs... At 24, Syd was a sick person... Psychiatry wasn't ready back then... Syd didn't want to go to the psychiatrist and didn't get out of the car 🚙... Nick Mason once said: We ignored the problem!!! One of the Barrett family was a doctor!!! He said: Everything is fine. Nothing is fine... Very sad... I'm interested in how Syd lived with his illness ??? Unfortunately, there are no more books in German...

Syd Barrett was sad depressed, his girl left him and that is why he consumed a lot of lsd so he could get Jenny Spiers out of his head
@LifeIsBrief3 жыл бұрын
Nice guess but LSD does not allow you to get things out of your head. If anything it would only potentiate strong emotions and feelings toward a lover.
