@@sandlotjones2092is it normal for dishwasher to stay wet inside and now it has a mildew stinky smell I can’t get rid of it the smell . The warranty people said oh just open it after each cycle but even at that it doesn’t dry out my dishwasher. At one time it was leaking they sent someone and said oh it stopped it’s not leaking. Do dishwashers like this smells can they create c2 n voc orders or no ? The lady was like all dishwashers will stink

Without exaggeration this is the most helpful KZbin DIY vid I’ve seen. Followed each step to a T and we had the exact same problem! It was wooden chopstick pieces that had gotten snapped off and made their way to the motor. Thank you for taking the time to do this. Also appreciate your conclusion was not only “now you can fix it for yourself next time” but rather “now you can help someone else.” Good on ya!

Thanks a million! I followed every step. Even checking all the pipes under the sink then realized my dishwasher has its own water source, but those pipes were NASTY and needed a good cleaning. In the end it was exactly the same problem. There was a Bobby pin (not plastic fork tine) caught in the pump. This has been a horrible week with things breaking so thank you for helping me fix this "on my own."

Thank you very much for your video. It gave me a confidence to open our dishwasher and solve the issue without calling someone, or more so, buying a new dishwasher. I found a piece of string strangling an impeller of a drain pump. However, I assume it wasn't the cause of the problem, because I could freely spin it with my hand. The issue was probably an ooze in the drip pan, which accumulated there over the years. A float of a level sensor there was covered by it and it likely made false signals to a unit, that the drip pan is overflowing. Problem solved 😎

This video helped me so much. I was able to replace the drain pump, which had two pieces of glass in it. The glass had blocked the pump blades and burned up the motor. Without the video, I probably would've just spent $800-$1000 to replace the dishwasher. Also, I went thru your steps and cleaned my drain hose and garbage disposal, which were nasty and partially blocked at both. Thanks for the video and great job!

In Spain, garbage disposals are not common, but in your case I would follow these steps: New cycle: Sometimes the washing programs for household appliances stop due to a mechanical or electrical error in one phase, in the dishwasher the cycle begins with a new drain. Filter: check objects that do not decompose in the filter, those that do tend to do so due to the high temperature of the water and detergents, but if you have doubts you can use a nylon electrician's guide and see if the tube circuit is free. 3: Only the drain pump remains or an electronic problem. To clean and disinfect the machine you can use white vinegar, cheaper and more ecological and it is bactericidal, it also polishes metal and glass. I thought you would end up in the downspouts of the building knocking down some partition or in the street, in the sewer 😆. By the way, that British brand has only given me problems.

Mine is brand new. First use ever. So there is nothing that could clog up the drain. Plus it won’t turn off and keeps making a buzzing sound. No clue where the plug is or which fuse to turn off at the main box! Service number is closed until the morning and I keep getting and error code where the blue light is flashing quickly. Keep in mind that I JUST moved in this place and the dishwasher along with the garbage disposal is all brand new! It’s 10:30 pm and I can’t call the landlord so prayers that we don’t all burn up in a fire tonight from this damned low reviewed dishwasher. Sorry for the language but I’m at my wits end tonight😢

Can you feel it? I'm giving you a virtual hug ! My dishwasher quit draining 3 or 4 years ago. I did all the checking, plus! I bought a new drain hose and positioned it with a high loop under the sink. It still wouldn't work. I watched a couple KZbin videos. I pinned it down to being something was obstructing the motor spinny thingy from spinning. Then I do what I always do, nothing! All these year hand washing. I've been having dishes piled ceiling high and still wouldn't take the time to unhook, flip breakers, knee pad it and look! I did it today though. The thing that hung me up is the damn hose clamp! I wish they'd invent one for the Phillip tip. Tip,a socket works wonders. I wish I'd known that after messing with it two hours trying to put it back on! So, I got it open and a rubber band had twisted up in the center and was stopping the spinny thingy. Got all tied up and BAM! YAY! Did the Cabbage Patch in the zone dance! Thank you! PS. I bought something off the Amazon wishlist to be gifted to a boy in Utah. Again, Thank you!

Thank you! Your video helped me pinpoint my problem. I saw how the drain pump disconnected and the little yellow fins helped me tremendously. I used a shop vac to suck out the drain, and one of these little yellow fins popped out. It wasn’t until I saw this clip, and 7:08 specifically, that I knew where to look. Ordered a new one from Amazon for $29… and now I’m back in business.

Question: In the first few troubleshooting steps you took looking for clogs in the disposal or sink drain, wouldn't you have been able to tell that wasn't the case if the dishwasher doesn't drain but the sink does? I'm asking because my sink drains but my dishwasher doesn't, so I think it must be a problem with the dishwasher train tube or the pump like in this video and I really don't want to have to take my whole unit out if I can avoid it

Hey thank you truly. I had mine out and sideways and backed the induction coils of the drain motor out of the casing banging my head against a wall not realizing you just rotated it and it popped off. Piece of glass in mine. I tried rotating it too but when I saw you do it I had the confidence to really push it hard and it came right off. Everything working great now. Bonus tip you don’t have to take the dishwasher out and turn it, you can unplug it and simply rotate the motor assembly out to check for debris.

When I pressed the drain option I did NOT hear the motor run. Assumed it was a bad motor. When I opened up the motor nothing was found, but it was all gunked up with soap deposits. I spun the motor around a few times and then cleaned everything with vinegar, crossed my figures and put it all back together. Instantly heard the motor kick in when I hit the drain option. ALL GOOD! Definitely worth running a cleaning cycle monthly.

Thank you, this video helped me out so much. My water was not draining due to an incomplete installation of a new garbage disposal. The guy I hired to do the job did not punch through the drain line housing in the garbage disposal; thus; the water had no way to evacuate through the plumbing. Was able to in addition clean my drain line. Again thank you as you indirectly solved my problem when I saw all that gunk you pulled out of the disposal and I knew from my finger being in that same hole that there was a plastic seal there. I drilled through that and fixed the problem.

Thank you! You video was spot on! I replaced the drain pump to start off with and no draining. Came to your video and realized i did not knock out the knick out plug on the garbage disposal. If only I reviewed your video 1st 😂. $24 beats $240 for a plumber.

Thanks to this video, I'm in the process of helping a buddy fix his dishwasher. Unfortunately, is looks like the pump is bad so he's ordering another (no big deal, they're about $78 from Whirlpool). But I never would have attempted this without seeing your video. Great Job shooting and editing. Thanks man!

Great video, clear, concise, and easy to follow, thank you! My problem was a bend/kink in the hose connection to the garbage disposal, where a buildup of gunk eventually blocked it. Your step by step approach saved me so much time, money and aggravation, THANKS!

Thanks for posting this, it was very helpful to see how to disassemble and to understand the parts. My dishwasher is a Kenwood Elite (Model # 665.13963K017) but most of the parts look to be the same. I had grinding noise when it was trying to drain and it wouldn't drain the water. I cleaned the filters, looked for blockages, and replaced the drain pump. What it turned out to be was an air leak in the sump near where the drain pump connects. It you look at your video at 7:00 you'll see the pump output connection. On mine, to the right of that, there's another connection with a plastic cap on it. Not sure what it is for, but it may be an access point to help clear debris. Anyway, mine looked tight, but could be turned by hand. It wasn't making an airtight seal. So when the drain pump started, it pumped out a small amount of water for 2 or 3 seconds, until enough air was drawn in to stop it pumping and then made the grinding noise. I used some 527 clear adhesive to glue the cap on making sure to seal all around to make it airtight. That solved the issue. I wish I could share the picture of the location incase it helps anyone else with this model.

Posting from my GF's KZbin because I'm too lazy to switch to mine lol. If none of this works, make sure the passage way at 4:20 doesn't have the factory plug still in it (new garbage disposals). Literally that hole was plugged with plastic that was still part of the body of the garbage disposal. I used a hammer and screwdriver to punch it out just like in @homesteady's "Home Appliances : How to Remove the Garbage Disposal Knockout Plug." But also, your tutorial was fantastic! I knew nothing about dishwashers or plumbing so your video is where I started and it taught me a lot!

I read a bunch of the comments and have to say I agree with them all. Hands down the BEST how-to video on ANYTHING I've ever searched! I mean, it goes from the easiest/simplest fix to the next step to the next. (Turns out we had to go to the last step) All in all we felt pretty proud of ourselves taking it apart and back together and having it work like new and all because of this video! Great job and thank you for posting such well done instructions! CHEERS! P.S. I used a wet shop vac to quickly empty the water.
