NextLevelGamer First a reverse b: inputting the opposite direction of the way you are facing, and then using a special move move. Followed by a b-reverse inputting the opposite direction you are facing, (now changed by the reverse b,) after using a special. Example: ZSS is facing and falling towards the right she inputs left, neutral b, right. This series of inputs causes her to shift her momentum to the left, but still face right. A reverse b would make her turn around, while a b-reverse would shift her momentum but make her face the opposite direction. Wavebouncing is even more complicated with the Monado Arts because Shulk is able to change his direction/momentum when the Art activates rather than when he first presses b. This theory of being based on timing rather than speed seems to applicable to many Shulk techs, which is what makes him so hard to play at a high level.

shulk's a pretty good character, but one of his greatest flaws is his considerable startup and end lag (affecting a good number of his moves) lets him get comboed easily, where his aerials can't beat out a lot of combating aerials,  and with his aerial speed being pretty slow, not fast enough(unless you equip monado speed) to DI out of combos. nonetheless, his range gives him that advantage over a lot of the cast, his damage and knockback are also good. his combos are a little loose but they can easily frametrap with their lasting hitboxes. monado arts also lets shulk players develop a different playstyle, making it difficult for opponents to adapt.

This combo video is such a great edit. Not only does it cleanly present the great outplays of the Sodrek but also brings Shulk's character to life with the well mixed Xenoblade battle themes and the character relevant edits. It's not just "let's edit all my sick spikes to this fire track!", taking time to edit in the shield monado vision brings a real sense of intimacy with Shulk's character. Well done lads, definitely one I can watch over and over again.

It's done like a regular b-reverse. If you don't know what that is, it's pressing a special move then right after, pressing the opposite direction which makes your momentum reverse on the ground or in the air. The timing for shulks is weird since the Monado doesn't activate right away so u have to delay it a bit. Basically, choose a Monado art, hold a direction in the air, after the art actually activates slide your finger to the other direction.

+TheTorchicWarrior Something interesting I learned, Activating the monado arts in mid air can be B-reversed. Something else interesting is that if your timing is off Shulk will change direction without changing momentum, although this particular trick isn't too useful except for using Bair instead of Fair.

MAGNIFICENT. I'm a huge Xenoblade Chronicles fan, and I must really thank you for this amazing video ! You do take profit of Shulk's different attacks very well ! The only thing I would say is that it would have been cool to see the use of the backslash ! That's really a good move for mindgame in my opinion. Also, thanks for the Xenoblade references through the vision of the Back Air (I feel like this happens everytime in my head when I counter someone's move by baiting him, like all of this vision sequence plays in my head. ) And also, using Unfinished Battle was superb ! Sodrek did a really good job of stealing his opponents double jump with uptilt, and then capitalizing off of their handicap with clean combos into their death. He's definitely the first Shulk I've seen really using uptilt like that and I have to say, it looks really effective.
