It's cause he's kinda hard to master cause you need to learn a bunch of setups and item movement patterns to make it in competitive. That and a lot of us just don't take the game seriously enough to be good in competitive, we just like having fun.

Stylish as hell. Surely one of the better put-together combo/string montages on KZbin. Though I've seen other characters such as Ryu pull off lengthier and perhaps more reliable and effective combos many times this one really gets the creativity and novelty character bonuses! How is PAC-MAN low tier? As a PAC-MAIN, I think he should be on the higher side of A tier. He has endless uses for the hydrant and launching it in certain ways that adds pressure. The fruits' properties, when the PAC-MAIN knows them, can be VERY effective against his opponents, especially if the opponent never bothered to know how PAC-MAN works. He's good at making his opponents feel scared, and end up shielding, and PAC's grab is alright for punishing players who like to shield. Fundamentally, he's OK, his recovery options cover a lot of distance but they're quite punishable.

+Bob McMullan terrible grab game and moves that don't damage enough hurt him. plus if an opponent is item savvy then they can usually shut down a large part of his game. also he has a hard time with heavy hitting rush down characters. I play him a lot and I think he needs a small buff to really help the character succeed further. plus a reliable kill option before 130% would really help

For those wanting to main pac man these set up combos look like they're difficult to pull off but really you just have to master a couple of basic moves for him as well as knowing some basic tek. You have to get a good feel for the character and know his "rhythm" per se. I've been able to pull off a lot of the combos on this video but theyre all situational and you have to quickly react to what your opponent might do and lock him in a trap using the bonus fruits and how they move. He's really fun to play too heh
