I’m a 3rd year beekeeper. Not to give ya the big head but if not for your content i wouldn’t have made it let alone stuck with it. Your videos are so personable and easy to follow. You always put out the exact thing needed at that time. Sooooooo organized. Easy to find. Thank you. Less stress. I know I’m not alone in this!!!!

Personally one of the worse problems for new beekeepers that I see locally, is individuals that want to be in charge and claim to know what has taken you half a lifetime to learn! Rather than welcome the new beek with help they make them feel "below" them. Nobody likes to be BEELITTLED! LOL I mentor one on one and enjoy that way more than the clubs a groups. NO I don't have "master beekeeper" after my name, but I have a lifetime of experience to share to any that really want to learn. TY David !!!

The most important thing I can say about this video: I hope beekeepers are listening to what you are saying. The complications you refer to are absolutely true and causing problems for all beekeepers efforts to continue on with their love of bees. I spoke to you at Louisville this year and watch all your videos. Thank you for this video in particular. Been a beekeeper since I was 15-years old and now am 74-years old. I like to think of myself as (old school) and that way of thinking relates greatly toward what you are trying to tell people. Great job - keep up the message for newbies as well as us old fellas.

❤❤❤Thank you David, I am from Tunisia. Actually, I have been stopping receiving a lot of information for a few years. My mind is confused. I no longer know what to do in front of the cells. I started thinking of fifty solutions to the problem in a minute. My mind burned out. Hahaha. I even said, “Okay, stop, stop, go home.” I filtered all the information. I took a little simple information inspired by nature. I thought, “Well, don’t bees reproduce and produce honey in nature? Who takes care of them in nature?” From here, I took things calmly. Actually, you are right. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I think it is time to purify this art from the absurd monsters who prey on everything. Everything has become calculations, greed, and avarice. We no longer enjoy a simple life. I think that we are destroying everything beautiful and simple with our own hands. Whenever a person interferes in nature or something like that, it spoils over time. Thank you again. I hope you have a nice day. ❤

I totally agree with you; especially when you said that people are destroying everything beautiful and simple. I think that it’s deliberate, dishonest and uncaring.

I have a swarm I caught at the end of last year. I'm using 5 frame nucs cuz that's what I was given. I made 2 more as deeps as the first were shallow. I fed them bee candy through the winter of mid state costal Delaware. They made it! They have enough honey for this winter. Just yesterday I was out in the yard and to my horror the hive was beeing attacked by robbers! What to do!?? The hive opening is only large enuf for 2 bees, so I quickly grabbed my garden hose, and made a rain shower over the hive. In 15 minutes, all was well. 😄 Today, Peace in the Valley. 👍

I also have kept bees for 30 years. I relate to how easy it was way back when. I still run with the same set up as day one. What I'm having the biggest problem with is shb. I have got to find a solution. I have fought this with everything, add to this an acceptable loss. It's enough to make someone give up. Sorry I just needed to vent. Thanks Dave , for your videos and patience in beekeeping.

What would you recommended for new bee keepers on a daily basis as they work their bees? For newby questions.

After 55 years of beekeeping and helping new beekeepers in our local club, some of the main problems are lack of commitment to the learning process. I say to people all the time, "the bees wait on no one." People think that they can install their bees and just leave them alone. They don't take the time to understand bee biology. They don't even know why the colony wants to swarm. They look at the colony only every 4 weeks because they had to go on vacation, or this reason, or that reason, of why they did not inspect. They don't have a commitment to learn. And as you have touched on in this video, after a problem develops, or a perceived problem; they go on you tube and seek out an easy fix. People want instant gratification without the work involved. A current society we now live in.

I have a question as I have jumped in feet first into bee keeping. I have a long story on how I got into this but i have a question first. I hate to even say this as I have been researching keeping bees for about 4 years and have had bees for 1.... I think this speaks into the internet having different opinions about everything. What is 1:1 ratio??? The internet has 2 was of measuring 1:1 by weight AND or volume. They are different. When feeding bees what does 1:1 mean? I have been watching you for quite some time. Even on you tube I have seen both ways to measure the 1:1 WHAT IS THE RIGHT WAY? Thank you for everything you do.

I think some of the problem David is the cost of things also it’s all right if you have two hives you can go out and buy two rubber screens for 40 bucks 50 bucks but when you get up to 10 hives where you gotta go out and buy 10 of them it’s costly and I’ve been finding that out more and more all the time you lay out a whole bunch of money and then something happens to your high with a scanned and you just lost your whole life I find it very frustrating also at times Charlie PA this has been a very frustrating year for me also

it's challenging because people look at farmers for whom beekeeping is a tool and think they can do the same, but actually they can't. beekeepers for example from Canada, some individuals, are farmers and not beekeepers. Such a farmer, for example, has 20 square kilometers of typified and sure honey flow, where he knows exactly how much he can get per hectare. other beekeepers depend on the capriciousness and unpredictability of the flowering of various plants.

Beekeeping doesn't have to be complicated others make it complicated. Just go back to basics. The Amish do just fine with the basics.

I love your channel I watch and you do give good advice but personally, I’ve been keeping bees for 20 years. I do not feed. I do not open there hives more than five or six times year. I do not treat. Nature is smarter than mankind. I take my cues from her. My bees are healthy. They are productive so to me the only complicated thing is videos on KZbin. You have a great day, David.
