I was just transported back to my childhood and discovered the Mr. Rogers of Beekeeping (i think that’s a huge compliment by the way)! Thanks for great video! Just subscribed! I think this is the first one of your videos that I found! My priorities are: New siding for the sheep barn, build up the rabbitry, hire a local person to help my wife and I on the farm, get some sheep handling equipment because we’re getting older, honey collection equipment and be able to support our local food bank. We have plenty of folks locally that need help. God bless. Sometimes the best work to do is the work that’s in front of you.

First year beekeeper here and the learning curve is REAL. Your videos and classes have helped me so much! If I had all the money, I'd either endow a library with extension programs about regreening, greenspaces, nature and farming...or I'd love to get good enough at bees to bring this to my college campus. Wouldn't it be cool to learn beekeeping in college?

If you think the first year is steep, wait until you hit about year 3 and think you've finally got it figured out, just to be reminded that you know nothing and bees don't read the rules of beekeeping. lol Year 4 is quite humbling.

Thanks for the video David! Our answer to your question is we would fund education centers around the globe (build, maintain, transport and some areas protect ) to teach the basics of reading, writing, arithmetic, science, history, tech, arts, agriculture and what we would call blue collar skills. People perish for lack of knowledge. Keep the videos coming they help more than you know!

Interesting! I've had bees for a couple years, but never felt confident enough to make a split. It looks possible! My wife and I are retired and feel fortunate to have sufficient resources to "make it". If we had all the money in the world, we'd probably make sure that our family was OK, and then share the wealth with the charitable groups we support now. Our church (which supports the homeless and hungry), education, public broadcasting, and a few others. We'd also probably get a little fancier with our beekeeping! Thanks for all the great information in a format that's so interesting!

Hi David. Based in the UK, our climate/weather may be different, but it's always useful to see how you approach matters, especially - in this case - splits. With regards to your giveaways, I 'm not in the US, to benefit but hey go. Unlimited money - Anything I like and yes, charity is a big part of that. In Europe we have a lottery which often gives £100mn and a recent winner has already given multiple millions to friends and family.

I'm so glad I've come across your videos. This week I just ordered my first hive. I live in West Potsdam New York. I'm so excited to get started learning, collecting bees and caring for them in my new hive. I am growing my own food and making my art. One of my art media is painting with encaustic wax. I have been painting in encaustic for many years. Last year I was given some bee casting which I used to make my own wax. It was awesome getting over 3 pounds of wax in the end. I took photos of my process. It made me really want to keep bees even thouogh for years I watched videos on other beekeeper doing there thing. I eat honey every day in my oatmeal and tea so it will be great having my own bees making it for me. If I had a lot of money I would repair the roof on my barn garage, insulate and heat it so I can have an art studio of my dreams. I could teach there and really enjoy using my printing presses and using my wax in some great art work.

I live in an area ( South Central Texas where the local population of wild bees are 70% Africanized bees ) and I have been successful to stop robbing from the local wild bees . The pressures on domesticated honeybees are very high and I have followed your advice to help those rogue bees in hand .

Hi Rod, unfortunately, bees are so perishable and sensitive to shipping issues or production issues. Many hands are handling a queen that you buy. Any of those fingers could pinch her too hard. These huge bee supply companies try to do a good job, but it is difficult to find workers to work bees. They produce such huge volume of packages and queens, that they work in a fury of activity for just a few months a year. Honestly, they cannot listen to their mistakes. But, you have the option just to be understanding, they tried but failed and try a different smaller company next year.

New to beekeeping! I got my first package today! It went so well! Now I want to learn as much as I can and make sure to keep them as healthy and happy as possible! I don’t have a mentor and would love to someday have the knowledge so I can help other new beekeepers!

I always learn so much from your videos and narratives as you work through the hives. You make it look easy. Thanks for it all.

Thanks Juanita. Most of the time it is easy once you learn how to approach bees. I cannot say for certain, but it is almost like my attitude and disposition puts my bees to ease as I work them, but that's just what I think.

Hi David! I am so glad I found your channel, you have taught me a lot. If I had unlimited money, I would have to buy a good sized parcel of land for my family and then I'd try to ensure that children's needs, hunger issues and medical needs were funded.

Thanks for the inspirational talks that go along with your awesome beekeeping information. If I had unlimited resources I would make it my job to go out and do random acts of kindness around our community and this wonderful country of ours!

Thanks David, I appreciate the video! This is some timely information for me. I had a swarm move in (accidentally on purpose) in a spot by the garage and they will need to move more then 3 feet and less then 3 miles. I think I will try to reorient them maybe with the branch method. It’s too far to move them 2-3 feet a day plus I will have to move them on a hill. I hope your season is off to a great start. We’ve been into the tulip poplar for a couple of weeks now and the privets are starting to bloom where I am here In GA.

Hello, I’ve been watching your videos for about a year. I’m new to beekeeping and love it! If I had unlimited money I’d buy houses for my whole family for the little homestead that we live on together. I love to turn our little into a retreat for people to come enjoy farm life or even to stay at during tough times.

one method that works for me is to use a lightly dampened pillow case. place it over the exposed frames. they'll calm down. also helps because the Queen will always run into the darker place...

I actually would buy parcels of land and plant trees galore. Trees for the wildlife. I have started 700 oaks pines and maples and need a place to plant them. Your videos are great. Thanks for educating. Keep up the good work. Happy Beekeeping

Good video Mr. Burns, like the hive management. All the money in the world? Make sure family and the kids are set for sure, expand our recently bought farm and definitely a few organizations we are tied to. Thank you.

If I had all the money. I’d help people less fortunate than me. Also, help more people get into beekeeping. Thanks David for the videos.

I am a 2nd year beekeep, I started with 1 hive, now I have 4! I feel like I will be having to work really hard extracting if I don't obtain some equipment soon! If I had all the money in the world I would pay off all my and family debt, start funds for education for all 4 of my grandkids, then fund scholarships for at risk kid's and their families to learn various trades.

Awesome 5/2 Dave! I’d Identify a group of people to compile a list of needs from which priorities for resources can be designated and a inspection process established to determine the resulting effectiveness of those allocations. 😅

Thank you so much for all you do! If I had unlimited money I would purchase several acres of land to start a homestead with me and my little family. I love teaching my kids (ages 6,8 and 14) how to be self sufficient. They love watching your videos with me and are so excited to pick up our first nuc hive this week! Again, thank you for taking the time to film and upload all of this content to share with us. Looking forward to your next video and binge watching the rest!

If I had all the money in the world I would make schools to educate those who don’t have opportunities to learn and grow, and pay the teachers big time! Thanks for the video, it’s very informative!
