If Lamb hadn’t have knocked out Ellery Hanley Balmain wins the 88 grand final. They deserved to following that end of season run. But then they came up against the Dogs of War. KO.

Steve Roach has got some gall pointing fingers at Terry Lamb for the Ellery Hanley incident, when you consider he arguably did worse to Bob Linder in a State of Origin game in 1989. Blocker straight up coward punched Bob Lindner while Bob wasn't even looking at Steve Roach, which in turn took Bob Lindner out of the game.

Bullcrap. Terry Lamb took out Ellery Hanley right in front of referee Mick Stone in the 1988 GF. This cost the Tigers the premiership. The Tigers were leading 6-4 at the time and Hanley was their best attacking player. Lamb should have been sent off.

Yep it was a shocker, but if I remember correctly Lidner got blocker with a bit of filth in the previous tackle. Blocker played the ball and broke his jaw

@@johnmatthews8810The Tigers were never going to win that match. Their path to the GF was much too hard. The Pearl was not their best player, only one of 7 or 8 internationals in the side. And he was no saint himself; what about that hit on Jason Alchin earlier? They lost the next GF too, to the Raiders, not the Bulldogs. That said, they were a great side, unlucky not to have won at least one premiership.
