The fact that DnB is in essence hip hop beats at double bpm means MCs can spit at 80-90 bpm and it fits perfectly to a 160-180 bpm track

Was going to same the same thing. DnB/jungle originated from speeding up hip hop tunes/breaks

Yup, sped up, cut up hip hop breaks (which in turn were cut up soul and funk tracks) but with a syncopation instead of a break beat. Laid over dirty stinking dub reggae, sub bass.

Hey guys, recently discovered your channel and loving it! Particularly enjoying the grins on your faces when discovering all the old UK music! Exactly what I was like when I first heard it all. Appreciate your enthusiasm for it too. Slowly catching up on all the vids and seen the DJ Hype - Ready or Not reaction. Yeah great album, the original title is "Kaos: The Anti-Acoustic Warfare" in case they want to search for it. I love the Stand Clear remix with M.O.P. (Edit) Oh yeah and the remix album is "Adam F - Drum and Bass Warfare" - the Origin Unknown mix of the M.O.P track is crazy.

Yea you'll hear hip-hop influences because DnB producers would sample hip-hop beats, or rather they'd use the same soul, Motown drum breaks to loop. Another reason why i think you'd both enjoy Massive Attack, another Bristol UK group. These lot just carved out a new genre for themselves. But love the DnB journey, good to see something different from US reactions.
