How do you introduce a queen to a possibly laying worker hive? And how do you know if it's a laying worker hive? I didn't see any larva in the entire colony of any kind. I did have some closed cells of brood and drones. The drones were the only ones in a good pattern. The brood is spread out on several frames with mainly honey and just a little brood with only one frame with a good amount of brood laid. I've already ordered a marked queen just waiting for her to get here.

Holy cow that was "not" a baby swarm!! But I do got a question tho... What do you figure the percentage of bee loss through the vacuum? I don't know so that's why I ask. But it's the only good way to capture them.. an on the cut out?? That was a new one ( them playing hide-and-seek with you) also?? Lock down SUCKS!! Michigan is getting extremely rigid! Thankfully I'm ah ridge runner an am only am 5 minutes from Ohio an 7 minutes from Indiana.. but it's like crazy!! But like a good little obedient flower!! I been staying home except to make a food run. Can't work so?? Spending my days inside the woodshop making screen bee bottoms and new bee tops.. was told mowing the lawn is not an ""essential"" the governor ""governess"" can kiss my ass the nearest neighbor to me is a half a mile any directions.. lol yep this old dinosaur is a rebel at heart..

Losses through any properly set up vac are low. This vac is incredibly gentle on the bees.

Same thing happened in Oregon and Washington, they did a shelter in place and the beaches and trails were packed, so they closed everything. National Forests in Washington, Oregon, and parts of California are closed until at least 30 September. Just no way to do social distancing with the crowds, plus put a huge potential strain on small town resources in case of accidents.

@@628DirtRooster I went in in Mandeville and then jumped in the company truck and went over there. Was there 2 to 3 times a week for quite a few months. After Deep Water Horizon, a ton, or TONS of our equipment was stacked and Chouest owns that old Ingalls Shipyard. So we stored our stuff there. From 30K lbs. generators to 80K Lbs. A-frames and 100K lbs. winches. So we needed a lot of space and some heavy lift cranes. Wouldn't even think about fitting in Mandeville or down in Galliano.

I've heard of getting queens delivered, but that swarm was going above and beyond. Bees mailing themselves away, whatever will they do next? Should have gotten some tiny postage stamps; they seemed to be better behaved than some swarms you've caught!
