When I was a college student in the late 70' s and early 80's only two activities gave me absolute pleasure : I was called a bookworm during those times and the second one was listening to your classical music through shortwave radios.And the music aired almost entirely was of Beethoven,Bach and Mozart ( all the three are still my favourite composers).I still have vivid memories of enjoying this music of great Beethoven .A Beethoven who never failed to transform my mood even if the 'mood' I got from the periodic exam might have been not pleasant. Thanks for stirring my memories of my student days!

@@classicalmusicreference It is quite possible that the error is in my system, so to say, but Mozart, in my humble opinion, simply lacks the depth Bach has. I mean all of it... Could you please recommend me pieces from Mozart and Beethoven to widen my horizon, to make me change my mind? Thank you! Btw. I am disgusted by almost everything that comes after Bruch, I mean in an epochal sense. Could you please also recommend something that is really-really good in your opinion from Wagner, Schönberg, Bartók etc. and their "fellows" from the 20th century? Thanks again.

@@gaborfarkas4425 imo....Mozart was brilliant and compositions mindboggling. But for me they lack Beethoven's feel.....emotion. No one did it better than Ludwig, imo. He hasn't been matched since....and it's not close.

I read Clara's biography and cried many times. Her sensibility was as big as the sky and she could make even the most uneducated ear tremble in awe (if that could ever be possible). I simply love her! She is our Romanian pride musician, along with Lipatti and Enescu.

i never read her biography but i want to cry when listening to her. There is something touching almost heart breaking about the way she looks in her photos. Always frail leaning on someone's hand yet completely infallible in her command of the most staggering piano works . Could it be that she was not steady on her feet which brought her tragic death falling down the steps?
@pictopoezia Жыл бұрын
@@iloveisrael8913 She suffered from a severe form of scoliosis in her youth, and despite painful treatments and years of corsets and casts she would always suffer from it. Do read Jémôre Spycket's book about her life, it will bring a lot of light about this frail yet strong in spirit woman.

This should have been the Beethoven Sonatas Edition par excellence. What else could you have asked Haskil and King Arthur? But, helas the recording falls short, the piano sounds like if it would have been placed in the next room. I’ve noticed that subsequent digitalisations of the albums have tried to improve, but the damage was done, and by no other than Phillips!!!!! The gold standard of recording studios and Grumiaux almost exclusive seal. A tragedy

She is truly wonderful, yet these recordings place him in the extreme foreground, with her quite far back; rather antithetical to the LvB innovation of true duets for piano and violin - note particularly, in the 1st mvt of the Spring, how the violin absolutely supersedes the piano while playing the Alberti 1/8 note accompaniment figure as the piano can be overheard playing the theme. Also, for me (very personal observation, and highly subjective) the Grumiaux “simplicity” results in more restricted use of the available colors of the violin 🎻 as if, dare I say it, the sonatas are an opportunity display his fine-ness of sound for 2 1/2 hours. On the plus side, he is presenting the Beethoven without trying to revise or overwhelm the original work, as some may be accused of.

They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scarred from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting here reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you don't feel alone anymore. Always remember, don't be depressed about the past, don't worry about the future, and just focus on today. If today's not so great don't worry! Tomorrow's a new chance. If you are reading this, be sure to share this around to make others feel better. Have a nice day!"💕🙏💗💕

It is the old thing, a interpreter can not at the same be time quick or slow, pure or emotional, loud or silent. Every interpretation is unique in time and location and in emotion and mastery. And we have the privilege to jump in time and location. Earlier generations had only reports we have testimonials.
