can i just say that i got goosebumps watching emmanuel pahud sitting at the SAME EXACT SPOT playing the SAME EXACT PHRASE where the camera would pan to him 8 years ago in Abbado’s rendition of Symphony 9?? exactly at 0:43. - damn, splendid playing as always though, both Pahud and the orchestra and especially Pretenko.

I like the camera panning out to show the choir when they start singing. Nice to see this in a formal, concert hall setting. I prefer the open-air concert that the Philharmoniker put on the next day - a bit more relaxed.

It's Beethoven's tempo (his student Czerny put them in the first edition with Beethoven's approval). I think the composer knew what tempo he wanted his music performed, sry!
