How to PROPERLY use ИЗ-ЗА in a sentence Hello friends! How are you? Привет друзья ! Как дела? Privet druz'ya ! Kak dela? My name is Fedor and today you will learn how to use ИЗ-ЗА in all its different usages -in the positive sentence, in the negative sentence etc. “Из-зa”[Iz-za] means due to or because of . When we want to put the blame on something. Typically is used in the negative sentence where we want to put the blame on somebody or on something. For example, the first sentence can be : -I didn't come due to the weather. Я не приехал из-за погоды. YA ne priyekhal iz-za pagody. So I'm putting the blame on the weather for me not coming to a party, to a birthday , Whatever; it doesn't really matter. So you put “Из-зa”[Iz-za] before пoгoды [pagody]. Another common phrase that may seem a little too harsh is: -This all is because of you. Это всё из-за тебя. Eto vso iz-za tebya. “This all happened because of you. “ Somebody messed up and you want to let them know that this whole thing is because of he/she. Again it can be a little harsh but I've heard this phrase used a thousand times in my life. So you might want to um use this one as well whenever it's applicable in the context, of course . But what if you want to say :” that it's not because of you -that you're not at fault for something “. we can just simply put “Нe” before Из-зa. “Нe из-зa.”[Ne iz zaNeeiza]+ rest of the sentence. For example, we can say: -This whole thing is not because of you. Это всё не из-за тебя. Eto vso ne iz-za tebya. And notice how I say[Neeizatibya]. I don't say [Ni iz-za tibya]. It's kind of blending in together . Let's now talk about ‘Из-зa” [iz-za]. Well, it's a complex sentence . When I don't want to say is because of the , but I want to say is because I didn't feel good . More of a complex sentence. An example can be like this : -I didn't come because I got sick. Я не приехал из-за того, что я заболел. YA ne priyekhal iz-za tavo, chto ya zabolel. So this structure : Из-зa тoгo, чтo - is a complex structure. That you can use to join two simple parts of a sentence into one complex one. Another sentence can be : -I don't want to drink beer because[ of the fact that ]I drank yesterday. Я не хочу пить пиво, из-за того, что я пил вчера. YA ne khachu pit' piva, iz-za tavo, chto ya pil vchera. So once again “Из-зa тoгo, чтo “ is used here to connect two parts of a complex sentence . And the very last meaning of Из-зa is going to be totally different. Kind of meaning “from around or up from”. So this is like a cultural point. A great example from a song is: -Gop-stop, we came around the corner. Гоп-стоп ,мы подошли из-за угла. Gop-stop ,my padashli iz-za ugla. Is a action where you pickpocket somebody or you stop them and say :”Hey give me your money “ We came around the corner. So a person, who we are about to get money from ,didn't notice us because we went from around the corner. So Из-зa in this sentence doesn't mean [because of] , doesn't mean “ due to”, it means : from around . It has a physical meaning. Another common phrase: -To get up from the table. Встать из-за стола. Vstat' iz-za stala.

Thank you for the explanations. Your videos always explain things in a very easy and logical way. I’m only starting to learn Russian and it’s really interesting how many things it has in common with my native Polish. Like we use zza (the equivalent of из-за) in the same way as in Russian but only in the last context you mentioned, but not in the “because of” sentences.

The way I learned it, из-за того, что has a rather negative connotation to it, whereas благодаря тому, что has more of a positive connotation to it. And then потому, что has no special marked meaning to it.

@@Whammytap In a lot of ways yes. That's why ruski was super easy for me. But there are also many false friends notably srb: слово (letter (meaning a single written character & NOT the mailing kind lol) & реч (word); rus: слово (word), буква (letter) srb also has буква (letter) but it's used a lot less & it usually means a beech tree, буково дрво; (russian бук, буковое дерево)

I was surprised the case wasn´t mentioned in the video. I guess using the right case is second nature to a native speaker, but for a foreign learner it´s imperative to actively learn or you can´t use it.

@@catboy721 i honestly have a pretty fuzzy understanding of it myself. I only know how to use it from reading books. but from my underastanding, it would be like saying "out from + preposition" so из-под would be like saying out from under. I have seen it with multiple prepositions but i dont know off the top of my head which all it works with.

I’m not an expert, but I would guess that’s “почему”, which is pronounced like “puh-chem-oo” (more or less), and can be used as “why” in Russian.

I didn't know there was a singular word meaning both "due to" and "from around"! Thanks for the video! Also, I was wondering for a while what a "gop-stop" is! I have heard of "gopniks", which though often memed in the western internet (where some people think they are the average Russian), have a reputation in Russia for pick-pocketing. I have seen the term "gop-stop" be flung around in memes, but I didn't know that _this_ is how far the pick-pocketing reputation of the gopnik goes! Again, thanks for the information!

You forgot to mention that anything after из-за when used in a “blaming” sense requires genitive case…. Also a better way to explain из-за in your last example might be to translate it literally… из-за стола= “From behind the table”….

Sorry Fedor, but in thr explanation for “это всё из-за тебя”, you say “somebody messed up, and now it’s all because of you.” So in the example you give, you should say “это всё из-за меня”.. Because “somebody” is third person, and “you” is second person, so in this example I really was like “Whaaat..?” Shouldn’t it be “это всё из-за его”, if you think with me..? Sorry for moaning about it, I just found it hard to understand due to this..
