To save your hand from all that scrubbing. You should try out a drill brush. Will speed up your carpet cleaning time by more than half. Totally worth the investment. Such a game changer. The carpet did come out great. Good work! I love watching your videos.

You should have pulled the carpet and pressure washed it. I’ve done it many times to many cars. It doesn’t hurt the carpet. It’s amazing how much crap comes out of it.

Agree 100%. Pressure wash the carpet then you can let it dry on the driveway in the summer sun. Worth the effort. When I purchased my used 1995 Suburban 7 yrs ago I did it a little different. Vehicle was in amazing condition but spent it's entire life on a ranch in West Texas with red dirt. This was the Mrs. personal driver. I removed the carpet and had one of the steam clean carpet vendors come over and steam clean the carpet on the driveway. It came out like new. Totally worth the effort.

He would have been amazed at all the junk he's leaving behind under his carpet. If you pull the carpet out and pressure wash it, you can wash out all the gunk and funk from the floor board. White Lightning and a brush would have made the stains disappear, too

I use hydrogen peroxide from a pool store alot for stains. Works great. Usually it's like 25 to 30% but wear gloves. It will destroy your skin. If you clean a spot and it's still a bit dingy try spraying it with peroxide after to brighten it up
@1RoadGarage6 ай бұрын
Will that hurt the factory color of the carpet?
@thebeddoctor42736 ай бұрын
@1RoadGarage I've never had it hurt the carpet but I cant say it never could. I would start with a diluted bottle with distilled water. Start at a 10% ratio in a spot maybe under the seat and see how it works and work your way up to stronger if needed. Usually 15% removes most stuff I've had after shampooing and vacuum. It doesn't work every time. I've had some red stuff of God knows what but it basically redyed the carpet lol. But I'd say it works 90% of the time especially to help remove that last little bit. Wear gloves because it will destroy your skin. I'd make 3 bottles. 10% 15% and 20% try 3 test spots under your seat and see what happens. I'd say worst case it will just lighted the brown so it's less noticeable best case I've had a spot disappear within seconds like magic. Love the videos. Let me know if you try it or have any questions. Thanks have a great day

Jimmy, the carpet looks great! Now you need a set of floor liners to protect your hard work. I bought a set of lasfit off Amazon for my 2024 4Runner and I was really surprised at how well they fit and how quality they are. I’d always been a weathertech guy but I like these better and about 1/2 the cost. Congrats on 23 years by the way! Love the channel and always look forward to “the next one”

Another tip. If you have a home dehumidifier, I always set that inside the car and run it for a few hours to extract more of a moisture. It’s bulky, but it works amazing. Take it from my mom with children who spill milk and other things inside the car, and needs to clean the carpets thoroughly

I just did a partial cleaning of a 2000 Durango that the previous owners had a Dog as well as spilled a ton of things on carpet and looks to never have had it cleaned. (Dog Shed a ton of short wirey hair that is hard to vacuum but cleaning it with shop vac, Bissel carpet cleaner (Mixed in a 2 Gallon sprayer to make application easier) worked amazing. I was given the Durango so I cannot complain. Best time to do it is in the summer with 80+ F temps and just run the AC (Recirc) for like 20 min or so. The Carpet cleaner has anti Suds agent which keeps it from becoming a nightmare and creating way to much suds and possibly sucking suds into the Shop Vac impellers

I detailed car carpets for a living ! That tooth brush is ridiculous ! A bucket of mixed liquid soap , water a little bleach , some Lysol and a sponge to apply ! No Steam is needed ! Soak the area with the sponge mixture ! Then get a medium bristle brush , normal size ! Scrub the whole area , it will make like a Chocolate milkshake ! Then take a Wet Vac and Extract it all . Like mowing the lawn ! Let some air get in the vac hose to help pull it out ! Then Repeat ! Let dry ! That's how we Pros Do It !
@ChezJohn6 ай бұрын
Hey any chance you could post the actual “recipe?” Also, does the bleach bleach out the color in dark carpets? It seems like it would. 🤷🏻♂️
@markeast92216 ай бұрын
@@ChezJohn Hi , After so many years of mixing this up , its really just from , not an exact amount , there is no formula , It kind of goes by the type of dirt or oil , or grease ! If oil or grease then a little more DAWN liquid soap ! You are correct about Dark Carpet ! Use little to no Bleach ! He had. Tan carpet ! Also a Really great spot Remover is TUFF STUFF ,a Spray Can ! About $5.00 .Just spray , Brush and Vac ! Most auto stores have ! Works ! Again maybe you should just go without Bleach ! Don't be afrade to soak up the carpet with the liquid brush to a nice foam and suck it out with a wet vac ! Repeat ! Let Dry all the way ! You can spot spray the Tuff Stuff first ,brush that ,leave it on and then do the soap with it ! Your carpet will be like New !

Good job using only simple green. I think if you spent just $20 on proper carpet cleaning chemicals, you can get the rest of the stain out, as it is designed with higher PH levels. Some commercial carpet cleaners even use special water that has elevated PH. However, carpet cleaning solutions don't have the fats and oils that normal household cleaners have, which helps them clean hard surfaces effectively, but can't quite cut filth in woven textiles or fabrics. And those fats/oils can actually attract dirt back to the cleaned area faster, no matter how well you rinse and dry the area. As for technique, soaking, agitating, steaming and vacuuming... I think you are on point, but I would try to vacuum directly behind the steam, with one hand on each tool. This is what is happening with your more commercial steamers, and it isn't allowing the steamed stain to set up again before vacuuming. If you fail with more commercial grade cleaners, SEM makes a carpet paint that really works. It is available in most every factory automotive carpet color, since there aren't many colors anyway, and most automotive carpet is sourced from the same few manufacturers before it's die cut and heat shaped to your model's floor. Anyway, I hope this helps.

It looks a lot better. Try using a peroxide solution. Test it under the seat to see if it bleaches the carpet. Peroxide works really good on organic stains especially blood. I used it on my daughter's car and it came out mint. I did remove the carpet and used a pressure washer

You have to really cut back detergent..If it's too much it will clean but if it isn't rinsed well it will actually attract dirt and get dirty very quickly..Less detergent and a good rinse and you'll be good. Steam helps tremendously

Sorry Jimmy but I have to say this. What kind of pig spills something like that, causes a stain like that, and doesn’t bother to clean up their mess? I had an 07 Chevy Uplander van that I spilled Shasta “Tiki Punch” in, it was a TINY little stain but that was a mother… to get out. Even tho it was only about the size of a quarter to a fifty cent piece it drove me NUTS. GREAT job, and happy 23 years. P.S. I mean this in THE MOST respectful way, but your wife is just darling, not just her physical appearance but her “peppy” personality. You guys are great together, congratulations again on 23 years, that’s something special in this day and age. (John from California)

I know they’ll be some hate for this because it creates suds and it’s a little harder to get out with the wet dry vac, but you have to get your consistency correct to avoid the over sudsy effect that you can get but find Tide with bleach alternative, water it down and that will be one of the best things you can ever use on stain removal and it works great on carpet and then take a water hose with an aggressive sprayer and spray it while you have the wet dry back, sucking it out.

All the other improvements you have made have been excellent but I think you missed the mark on this worrying way too much about being so careful with the carpet. Hi End professional retailers use drill brushes and carpet cleaner and take out far worse stains. Good job but don’t be afraid to get more aggressive with the carpet.

*plot twist, it’s NOT coffee.*
@robertt82736 ай бұрын
I don't think it is coffee. My 2004 Yukon XL had similar stains and i don't drink coffee. It is probably the stain from the pad getting wet and soaking back up through the carpet. That was what I was told happens by a detailer when the pad gets wet. The other problem is you will clean it and if you dont separate the two like remove the carpet to clean it and let it dry it will come back as it dries. I did it over and over and it kept coming back. Until i removed the carpet, cleaned it and let it dry then it did not come back.
