I tried one after many years of standard pins with different fuel and boost settings...I have to say it was not actually worth spending the short time to fit it as the adjusting to get power without a cloud of smoke and no flat spot at low revs was a pain.However after 4 months and less than 10,000 miles a deep groove had worn into pin from pump....took it out put in original and reset ....lovely,goes to show Bosch know what they are doing with diesel pumps as original is barely marked at 208,000 miles.

That's because a well known company in the UK was pumping out none hardened pins, I have fitted two in both discovery and 90. Both work good enough for me, no lines on my pins. The one of the guy who makes all this stuff in the UK didn't last a month before they was a nice Grove in it.

@@joyyoung4482 I haven't had the smoke problem, guess yours was over fueling. Also in my over video I show its actually not much different than rotating the pin like you said. Either way the pin was worth the money I paid, well the one that was actually hardened.

M111KCA I also decide my engine doesn’t need all its bs! I have a custom ground boost pin. I have mine set up so there is almost no fuel, until the boost comes on. You can turn the idle down so low it barely moves, but I have a variable turbo so I can basically control fuel with my turbo controller. I love these pumps. I pray my fuel pin doesn’t leak on me.

A slight bit, but people only get black smoke you're talking about because they have been adjusting the pump

You need to turn the gear looking nut under the spring till it’s tight the back it off quarter of a turn before you put it in to get the full boost and make the pump last longer

turn the top of your pump behind the metal bung two times clock wise then you will notice the flat spot bottom end goes away

Now you shorthen the wastegate 4 complete turn it will give about 0.2kg extra boost. Then you will se a bigger difference. The load o waste gate will maki it boost earlier together with pin they say it is amazing.

Wow mate i would surely like to do that in my 300tdi. Can you please tell me if there is any change in fuel efficiency. Like if it increased or decreased after installing the pin. I know the fuel injection increases so i believe the fuel consumption may have increased but if it did then i wanted to know by how much it increased. Thanks.

For me I think it stays the same, as you have more boost to stay in a higher gear, I had to change my clutch after as it showed my weak clutch up. But someone hadn't done a good job changing used old parts of the clutch. I wouldn't want to go back.

Greetings from South Africa. I unfortunately don't own a Defender 300tdi at the moment but in Cape Town where I come from there are quite a few roads in places where hills are involved. Lovely to know that this device actually works. Would this device also work on a 90's Isuzu Kb (TF) double cab with a non-turbo diesel engine? I think most of the 2.5l models from that time period that we get here don't have a turbo but the 2.8l models have one.
@m111kca45 жыл бұрын
Hi, this boost pin is designed for the 300 and 200 tdi engine. I’m sure other turbo engines must have something similar, this will not work with non turbo engines.
@Preyser1235 жыл бұрын
Okay. Thanks for the info. I was actually wondering the other day how one would go about modifying a 300tdi to gain more power but also maintain stock engine and exhaust noise until I came across this video. I'm definitely going to try the boost pin when I look into getting a Defender 110 double cab with the 300tdi engine.

@@overnighter I would think it probably does, but I would imagine that a lot of thought went into the design of this. I've ran them for a few years on a 200tdi and a 300tdi with no problems. Pass the mot fine, even after only having one box on the exhaust on both. Only issue I have had with both is the increase in power made the clutch slip on both. I guess they was on the way out on both as not slipped since I swapped the clutch. I wouldn't put it back to how it was because its just so much nicer like this.
