I love when Stephen lights up with certain guests from the Lord of the Rings. Just when I thought I couldn't appreciate Viggo any more, we get the runaway stories. It triggered a memory of when I tried to run away, I was 5 and couldn't even tell you why. I packed my suitcase and headed out to who knows where. I made it to the end of the sidewalk as my Dad was coming home from work went then back in. And that was the end of that. No "Unexpected Journey" here to see. 😂

@@melxnshaustierkino*partially. That doesn't mean that he spends the most of his time speaking Danish or being in Denmark which is usually reflected in his proficiency in conversational Danish, which is quite great but clearly shows that English is his first language. The man doesn't usually speak with a Danish sounding accent in English. So my comment was mostly to the fact that he incorporates (very deliberately) what sounds credibly like a Danish person who adopted English as a second language.

My Mother likes to tell the story of when I was 3 or 4 and I walked from our rural home 2 or 3 miles to the tiny Ma and Pa Grocery Store / Gas Station down the road a ways. The folks there knew me and called my Mom of course. Apparently I just liked to hang out with the people there because I did it at least twice. I have always been a wondering Soul and now at 61 I have settled in Germany where I enjoy my retirement playing and recording Songs that I have written and best of all, spending time with my two beautiful and talented (now adult) daughters. Just felt like sharing. Peace to you all.

@@KazutoK007 1) This was the 1970's when children were expected to play outside and nobody called CPS to report parents for risking their kids' lives by exposing them to dirt. 2) Keep him inside? He had long since figured out door and window locks, and was an escape artist. He was going to be outside anyway, so it was better to control where he could go. 3) Also, it was the 1970's, so indoors was where smoking parents and lead paint were found. Indoors was not all that "safe".

Sometimes his plan was to « live » with our kind old bachelor « river rat » neighbor (who always showed him his arrowhead collection & let him climb around on his boat in the backyard, then walked him back home after he thought that homemade jerky & MRE food was less-preferred) My Sam always came back home the wiser. I had a similar experience told about me. When i could walk, i would purposely make messes in different rooms to distract my mom then I'd go out the front door. My dad installed a really high deadbolt on the front door so i couldn't reach it. Well, during different room messes I'd make, I'd stack things by the front door until i could reach the deadbolt. And I'd almost get away with it, too.

I have a younger brother who was much the same. A baby escape artist disappearing in the middle of the night while the rest of us slept. My parents had to change the locks multiple times. The locks that kept him inside at last were slide bolts near the top that had to be operated together. He kept it up until adolescence. Any time we were out as a family, he’d take off. Turned out he didn’t like loud. So any time things got loud he’d find a place to hide from the noise and lose track of us. It made everyone so mad. These days we could just equip him with some sort of tracker. Fortunately he never got hurt on any of his escapes.

@@rtd1791 Your brother sounds like he's on the Autism Spectrum. Sensitivity to sound and crowds? Dedicated focus on a goal. Loosing track of the family.

Viggo bought Hidalgo after the movie ended. I think he also bought some of the other horses he has ridden in movies. He has done a lot of his own stunts that required horse riding. For some reason I think his father trained the polo team in Argentina and that was where he learned his skills. He speaks several languages; his Spanish is excellent.

Viggo is slaying with the Danish accent. :D This is the first spot on Danish accent I've heard on film! :D The share awkward authenticity of it makes me chuckle. Usually they make us sound german.

Viggo would be perfect in a Paul Thomas Anderson film. He has that voice that'd fit his films & dialogue ideally.
