I hate romantic movies and I love this trilogy. So well written and performed. It's a love story in it's simplest way, no billionaires, no ex boyfriends to steal the girl at the middle of the movie, no stupid wedding scenes at the end of the film where she has to choose, no stupid fights because someone misinterpreted a private conversation at the other side of the door, of someone got drunk and had sex with the wrong person. Nothing. Just a simple story that happens in the span of 18 years.

Did anyone notice that transport they travel this movie is not random. In the first part they are young, hot and fast and they meet in the train which is fast as well. Here they are on the boat at their early 30's. Life is stable more or less and you can quitly go with flow. Just good script detail.

the funny thing is - Marvel films have more of these kinds of moments than almost any other large budget action movies (give them a chance, there are more emotional character based nuances than you might think). This is coming from someone who loves MCU movies, but Before Sunrise remains, bar none, my favorite film of all-time.
@denniszenanywhere5 жыл бұрын
@@lw1391 Yes, Marvel movies have them but I like my characters to be real. No superpowers. No good-vs-evil dichotomy. No costumes, just emotionally naked. Nothing that will make me conscious I am watching a movie (not a "movie movie" but cinema). Just people baring their souls. Sometimes with no clear ending. Just human, warts, flaws and all. Return 2 Innocence I don’t think you necessarily forget people either. Like, it’s not like people just forget their exes once they date someone new. It’s more just that the loving feelings you had for them fade. Maybe you still “love” them in a distant sense, but you lose the more immediate “loving” feelings that you used to feel for them. I don’t think I’ll ever forget people who have come into my life

Finally i got to watch the whole trilogy, it became one of my favourite movies of all time. So wise and so sublime. Just two people talking. I loved how they look at each other eyes in Before Sunrise and how they accepted their experiences and how they enjoy the sudden meeting. Finally, i was a little bit worried at the beginning of third movie, that it’s going to be „too forced” but it didn’t happen. Before Midnight is also wise at it’s own way, describing the other part of relationships. I will watch those movies every now and then.
@percival8193 Жыл бұрын
It may just be because I’m a guy and I view the story subjectively like the rest of us, but I believe that all three films are told with Jessie as the narrator and the one living out these memories of them. Much like his book idea he had eluded to earlier, he has these three polarizing moments in life revolve around Celine; when they met, when they see each other again, when we’re shown her telling him she no longer loves him. The first film begins with him in the frame on the train, and for the ending of the third I couldn’t help but feel that the story was being filmed through his perspective. Or it could be possible that all this is played through Celine’s perspective of what her lover meant for her while she was young and full of life. She does tell us multiple times that she feels as if she’s living in a dream or a memory, which is why I find it plausible for both to be true

I haven’t seen “Before Midnight” Yet, but this second one just hit different. Probably because I’m closer to my thirties and life has slowed down, thus making this second film more relatable. In my young adult years Before Sunrise would have been a cult favorite for me, I just know it. Indie’s used to do it best. I don’t think the indie scene is the same as it was then or the early 2000s, the artistic expression has lost its uniqueness and singular quality.

people just have an affair or even entire relationships. they break up and they forget. they move on like they would have changed brand of cereals. i feel i was never able to forget anyone i've been with. because each person had their own specific qualities. you can never replace anyone. what is lost is lost. each relationship, when it ends, really damage me. i never fully recover. that's why i'm very careful with getting involved, because.. it hurts too much. even getting laid, i actually don't do that, because i will miss of the person the most mundane things, like i'm obsessed with little things. maybe i'm crazy, but when i was a little girl, my mom told me that i was always late to school. one day she followed me to see why. i was looking at chestnuts falling from the trees, rolling on the sidewalk, or ants crossing the road, the way a leaf cast a shadow on a tree trunk. little things. i think it's the same with people. i see in them little details, so specific to each of them that move me and that i miss and will always miss. you can never replace anyone because everyone is made of such beautiful, specific details. like i remember the way your bread has a bit of red in it and how the sun was making it glow that morning right before you left. i remembered that, and i missed it.
