Why a Moto Guzzi V85TT? The 6 gallon tank? Cruise Control? Heated Grips? It's not all Parmesan and Chianti. This review will go into detail on why I'm naming it the Silly Goose. Before you think I'm shredding it to pieces, keep watching and realize I very much enjoy the Moto Guzzi V85TT. It's my daily rider.

My Yamaha WR250R and my Suzuki VStrom 650, and my 2 BMWs have incorrect speed. All are optimistic.

Just what I was looking for, a good honest review. I just bought a V7 Stone special a few months ago. Wishing I bought a TT85. Now trying to figure out how to make it happen. Thanks for sharing.

You‘re a funny guy😂 I operate my own V85TT-channel (…with a little bit more miles experience) and I‘m glad to tell you: When you follow this path, you are on the right way to see the light (of Moto Guzzi🤗) Greetings from Austria Roland, the „Moppedbua in Tour“

Where’s your V85TT channel? I’d like to follow it.

TPMS is useless. I had the functionality on my 2018 BMW GS 750 and it was never accurate when comparing the PSI reading to an actual physical tyre guage.

All of my cars have that indication for running lights. Nothing unusual. My Suzuki and Kawasaki are both off by atleast 3mph. Again, not unusual.

Finally getting round to picking one of these up in a couple of weeks, I'm all OK with quirks.. not my first Italian bike!!! Love this vid, I'm really looking forward to summer on the Guzzi 🙂

As for the dash screen and design, it was born that way. Being made uncomfortable by it or disagreeing with it will not change it. Just grab a Bud Light and relax and "Viva la Differenza"!

Great video, Thanks! 😊 Some of the issues you mention are getting to know your bike. This bike was made in Italy so it’s the way Moto Guzzi does things. The high beam switch is no different from many other bikes from Europe or Japan. It got it gimmicks as many other bikes.. jump on a African twin and you’ll need to read the manual with all its buttons and crazy menus 😊 European vehicles has to show higher speed than actual, don’t know why, but guess it’s better going a bit to slow than a bit to fast ( it’s easy to compensate ) Enjoy your Italian iron horse 😊👍

Now I know why the 2024 V85s all have new bar controls LOL I have to admit, two Yamahas and one Kawasaki I've owned were 5mph too fast on the speedo. The new 2024 V85s have new panels to block the turbulent air coming in under the windscreens.

I've got a 2021 with a bit over 12,000 miles on it. The best mod that I've done is the Mistral "v-twin boost" . It tricks the 0xygen sensors allowing the engine to run richer. This results in more power and less heat.

Nice video! I have the 2023 V85tt and love it, had a 2021 V85tt Travel but it had throttle issues that turned out to be a fuel pump sensor which took months for the technicians to figure out! Went to Colorado for the first time last summer, wow those Rockies are beautiful!

It makes sense to me for the green light to turn off when the headlights are on. It would be better not to have a light at all but, I certainly wouldn't want that green light glowing in my face at night.

A bike normally has its headlights on. So the Guzzi engineers have no indicator when the headlights are on, or the headlights + fog lights are on. The indicator comes on when you only have your DRL on. Makes sense to me - be warned only when your main headlights are NOT on. As for the flashing cruise light, I saw that complaint on other reviews. But after getting my V85TT, I have no problem with it. I found it very easy to simply turn off. And either I’m riding small roads where I’m not using cruise and have it off, or I’m running faster/straighter roads and have it on. I’m not in betwixt much. Switches are expensive to engineer, so I have a heated grip switch on my V85TT ADV, and yet have no heated grips. (To be remedied at a later date). Same with the lack of fog lights. As for the starter button, with modern software the starter button would already be prevented from attempting to start the engine while it’s running. Ever ground the starter on an old car before, when it was already running? Well, since it’s disabled from the starting function while the bike is running, the engineers decided to use it for additional features.

Hi Marshall, did you loose any pressure over night with the screw plug thingy? (I've never heard of one of them befor). As usual, I love your wilderness you have on your doorstep.

I thought I should have filled that in. I haven't lost pressure. In fact, I'm at the store with it now. I have reservations though, because it's a steel screw. Rubber plugs flex. Steel doesn't. That combo can't last. I see I never answered your Sturgis question. I saw 2 other Furys. One was probably trailered in, the other was inside a shop like it was rare or something.

Fun Fact: there is no update to get more power, the dealer just raises the rev limiter which you can do.

Suzukis like my old Burgman 650 have 10% speedo error. You learn I do math while you ride. Want to go 60? Go 66 on the speedo. It’s not really all that difficult. It’s so common for bikes to have overly conservative speedos that there’s a company that makes speedo ‘healers.’

I had a Motoguzzi before as a first bike and learned a lot. First thing I learned, don't buy a Motoguzzi. I have a BMW now and absolutely love it. It is used, but good as new. Don't buy Italian Ferrari, buy good reliable German. Good luck, will see how long this FIAT (Fix It Again Tony) will last. Good frustrations!

I own a BMW GS 1250 and can say that German precision/reliability is a legend: the bike is noisy, has got a rough gear and quickshifter, neutral gear position is hard to find, not to say the well known issues with the battery.

Here in Au speedometers MUST over read by a minimum of 8% by law (ADR's). In cars it rings true but I've never tested bikes.

I wonder if that's why Suburu Outbacks always think they are going the speed limit when they are actually 8mph under?? They slow down the entire interstates here in the U.S. I figured it was to cheat the EPA fuel ratings.

I like it because it's different. The sticky out cylinders are weird but not as oddball as a boxer. Sounds nice (even with the Euro 5 wokebox). Italian electronics are always stand up comedy.

It's really hard to describe the appeal of the bike. So many things are RIGHT about it. It's been my go-to bike out of the 4 I have. The seat is supportive, it's not too heavy, it turns into a corner like a dream, it feels more stable than the NC700X even though it's tires are thinner. I did raise the bars though to save my neck and shoulders, but I've had to do that on every bike.
