What impact driver and drill driver would you choose? The upgrade one or the lower cost one?

As a remodeler, I have all colors of pro tools and some Ryobi stuff. I NEVER had a Ryobi battery go bad yet my Milwaukee battery’s are the worse by a long shot and I take care of my tools. No more red for me, actually my last few purchases have been Metabo HPT and so far they work great and are cost effective, just my .02

I've had 1 Ryobi battery go bad. But, it was an old orange one, from way back when. ( The tools were blue)

Interesting to hear! I've had one Ryobi 2Ah go bad and one Milwaukee. The Milwaukee was under warranty and was a fairly easy process to get replaced.

I've had one 2ah go bad. But that was after it spent a entire winter in a 5 gallon bucket of ice after I left my impact out side in the fall and didn't find it till spring. Still took half a charge for 2 years after that and that impact driver is still my favorite one to grab

Gen 2 if buying new, especially if part of a larger combo kit. Ryobi has the perfect balance of tool quality and value for people like me who use something a few times a year but need reliable performance when used. Good to see more consumer/DIY products tested here too!

The new version at least have three settings. Which one did you use? 1 is the slowest and 3 is fastest.

For the performance/price difference with the most basic battery I’d save the money and go Gen 1. If I was gonna run the HP or Edge batteries I’d have to go Gen 2, those batteries will wake both those tools up but I think the Gen 2 will widen the gap a lot more! Great video Mark!

How about a video comparing the Ryobi P318 23 gage pin nailer and the PCL310B pin nailer. Is one newer technology and what is the difference between them?

I would like to see the power usage. How about the battery life. 001 vs 002

That's a good point. Thanks for sharing!

I have the Gen 1 of both. I'll stick with them. The very small improvement is not worth upgrading in my opinion.

I have almost every tool Ryobi makes and have never had a failure. Keep in mind that most of these are BLUE Ryobi tools with most of them purchased in the 90's and have outlived the first generation of people who talked smack about them. Back then at least they had good reasons.. solid steel construction, made in the USA... but today it's nonsensical. "My red tools are better! even though they are made by the same company in the same chinese factory using the same components.. the RED pigment in the plastic molds and higher price/advertising makes it worth it to invest in a better..." blah blah blah. They work fine, I'm not sponsored by anyone and my philosophy is that if you don't like my tools, buy me some of the ones you recommend. Otherwise shut up..
