Magic Pins are great products! I purchased several different Magic Pins without really knowing much about these pins. After learning more information about the selection of Magic Pins, I decided to make a video to help share what I learned. I hope the information in this video will help you select the perfect Magic Pin!

I have various kinds of Magic Pins, especially those for hand appliqué and really like them. Pins are what a quilter,likes and uses - I don’t care what others like or do not like! Pins need to be sharp which is why cheap pins don’t always work well!

I love my magic pins. I have the blue and pink (I like the different lengths for different applications), and I also have the purple pins. The forked ones help me match seams when I’m sewing quilt seams that I’ve pressed open, and they help keep fiddly fabrics from slipping when I’m sewing garments, too!

I love the blue flat ridged pins.🎉. The grip is amazingly. The tips of my fingers are losing a bit of sensation and these pins have helped dramatically. When sewing , because of the grip on them, they are easily slid out of the fabric and into my pin cushion. They are so much thinner than my previous pins when using batiks it’s a breeze.

Thank you so much! I just mailed back some pins yesterday, and have been wanting to try the Magic pins, but the selection was pretty overwhelming. I’ve had my Clover pins for quite a while, and they seem to be dulling. Your research helped tremendously. I’m thinking the blue flat head that are two inches long are the ones I would like. As always, thank you for a practical, informative video, it helped me decide!:) Have a lovely weekend!

First I bought the extra long extra fine ones with the pink end on them. But being so thin they do bend more easily than I anticipated. Just didn't think of that. So I bought the blue end ones that are a little shorter and thicker. Love them. I wanted them because I can't grip most pins between my thumb and forefinger and had used them at my quilt shop during classes.

I bought a variety of Magic Pins because i was not sure which would be most useful to me, but I knew i wanted had that would not melt. I mostly use the blue flathead ones as they are easier for me to pick up and hold. I like the idea of the fork pins for seams and have also used them when sewing minky seams for greater stability. I also like a longer pin as you do.

I miss the high quality sharpened stainless steel pins with the colorful glass bead heads. Back when craft supplies weren't overpriced, that was the standard pin and perfect for nearly everything but then they made specialty pins,awitched to plastic and duller ones, and stopped selling the best pins to make more money and have things need replaced more oft. So sad!

Thank you! This video is very helpful. I purchased the Magic flathead pins without really knowing about the other types. I use the flathead pins for piecing, and like them for that purpose. The shaft is quite fine, so I don't actually know that they would work well for pinning through all layers of a quilt - however, when I pin-baste quilts, I use the curved safety pins that are made for that purpose. I'm going to try the Magic fork pins. I'm pretty good at matching seams but think they would really help to secure total accuracy.

I usually ignore the function label and order based on the length. I love that they are nice and sharp, and I like the grip, what I don't like is that they seem to get bent rather easily. I have the blue head quilting pins and most of them have become bent and I stopped using them, one of yours looked like it had gotten bent a bit too. I have considered trying their flat head pins but I'm worried they will bend easily too.

I like the sort of turguoise patchwork short pins for piecing. I bought the longer pink ones and I don't think they are as sharp. I use and really like the magic pins. The only ones I didn't care for were the applique pins. I thought I would like them because most applique pins are quite tiny with very tiny heads making them difficult to pick up or hold onto. The magic pins solved that problem but for hand applique the head makes them pretty long not so good for small pieces and my thread was constantly getting caught on the heads.

I bought the blue pins after your video. They are indeed much sharper than the cute pins that I had been using from MSQ. I thought that they would be good for attaching the quilt back to the leader fabric on the long-arm. They are a bit too thin for that and bend. Some, beyond repair. So I will use them for piecing, I guess.
@thesimplequilter7499
@thesimplequilter7499 4 ай бұрын
They have T pins that go up to 1.0 mm that can be used for basting. That might work. The longer and thinner the pin the more it will bend. I like a really fine pin because I want it to glide through the fabric; however, even my old favorite pins bent easily. I think those you bought will be good for piecing.

I have a lot of different magic pins (pink and blue flat head) and they feel like spears to me; clunky. I use short sharp thin pins, much like appliqué pins. I pin a lot, a lot. I know a lot of people don’t like those but I find them compact and unassuming, meaning you hardly know they are there. Sometimes they are a little hard to pick up but I manage. I use the magic pins to pin my binding just so I have a use for them.

Are your quilting pins .5 mm or .4mm? The thinner the shaft the easier they will bend. I really like the grip because it is easy to pick up. The flathead pins don't roll and I like that also! I bought the original ones for the “comfort” grip because I have some arthritis in my hands. I found them far more difficult to grip than round head pins. I have since given them away and will not buy more.

I am so surprised because they are much easier for me to pick up, especially the flathead pins. Each of us are different and what works for one does not work for all. Thanks so much for sharing! I hope you find a pin that works well for you!

Didn’t know they have a flat head, I’d try them. I have the blue ones, they’re ok. Too bad they didn’t offer your viewers a discount code.

I just wanted to share this information I discovered to help others who had the same issue I have had. It would be nice but I don't know if they have an affiliate program.

they are a lot more expensive in our area, s I didn't purchase any. Enjoyed the video though.

I bought fork pins and not impressed, bought the magic pins and I do like them. I did not know there were specific colors, I bought pink because I like pink, not reading what they are specified for.

I purchased the pink ones, but they do bend fairly easy. That, I don’t like.

The fine the pin the more it will bend. My favorite pin to use for patchwork was a very fine glass head silk pin. They bent easily but they just glided in the fabric. I do like the Magic Pins because of the comfort grip head.

I bought the blue flathead pins, the clerk told me they were great for arthritis. I also like the longer length and how sharp the are. My old pins are OLD, so there's no comparison! Haven't noticed any bending

I like magic pins but they always seem to bend.

Several people have commented on that. I think that when pins are thin and long they are just going to bend. My IBC glass head silk pins that have always been my favorite bent easily too. I can't find those with the quality like my old ones anymore. I try to be careful with pinning thick seams. I

I buy Little House glass head pins. Strong thin and don’t bend. They don’t melt and do all sewing jobs. Don’t bother with anything else.

I’m not a fan of the magic pins. Even the silk and fine are too thick and I don’t think they are easier to grip. I have arthritis in my hands and find them harder to pick up than my regular glass head pin.

Which pins do you use? The thinner and longer the pin the more readily they bend.
