Ok , I learned to skate in my 40’s. Decided to get back into blading at the age of 63. This has been a challenge for me. LO L!, These will help me get loosened up to learn again Thanks for the the warm ups.

Defiantly notice the need for this as you get older. Keep up the great work 🤟🤟

Thank you! I always feel a little bit uncomfortable the first ~30min in skates, that means most tricks dont work that well etc. I reach my best results (finally a nice 360', jumping 50-50 over a quarter pipe transistion) always at the end of a session. Another reason is that the fear slowly fades away during the session, though.

Hey Acosta Blades, really enjoying your videos! I'm back on the blades at the age of 31 after many years off and there is very little content out there on the topics of injury prevention, warming up, stretching and strength training. I have been doing yoga and foam rolling to allow me to keep skating. I see too many injuries in skaters (hamstring, back, groin etc.), keep the content coming!

Thanks and Welcome Back! I agree, we can prevent all these injuries to some degree by having healthy practices outside of rollerblading. Thanks for the support!

Recovering from a torn MCL after landing on a heel-pivot after a 360. Got cocky and didn't warm up prior! Thanks for the video!!

I'm 37 and work on the computer for a living, I've noticed that my hips are so stiff I struggle now to get low on my grinds and hold them. I started stretching my hips out daily, and do so before sessions, noticed an insane difference. Surfers (myself included) warm up before paddling out, no reason we shouldn't as well. Especially over the ages of 30.

For me, the most effective benefit of a proper warmup is to avoid over jumping ledges. One miss-calculated jump can end your session really quick or even put you out for weeks.

A good little reminder that I really need to start warming up before and stretching after... Thanks for a good warmup routine! For anyone who thinks it's not necessary, go do a decent size stair set without warming up 😂 I learnt my lesson

About a week ago, I broke my ankle in two places and my legbone snapped in half, sticking out through the skin - wondering if warming up would have helped anything - you never know. Keep up the good work!

Seriously doubt it considering you snapped your bone in half, sounds like some serious impact which any amount of stretching won't help. Stretching is for muscle/tendons/joints, preeeety sure you can't warm up a bone so that it doesn't break...

Warmup really helps with the start of the session. I do a couple of stretches that I know make me feel better as well :) Started warmup and stretching after the back surgery last year :)

So I started blading 2 months ago (I'm 14 now) and at first my back would Hurt like hell Every time I would do a trick. I stoped blading for like 2 Weeks to recover and then everything was ok. I Still blade to This day and it's really fun! Too bad it's a verry underrated sport. Now Everyday I go blading I will do a warmup. Wish I knew about this from the start 😅

What you did to prevent from dislocation? I dislocated left twice, almost once my right arm, now just recovering and waiting to get back to skatpark :/

Just turned 40 - I guess I should do that more systematically like you do. Generally I tend to roll around first, not doing any grinds, then stretch a bit, but that's about it. Forgetting about those elbows and wrists in general. Something else: How do you avoid sticking out your arm to take the fall? I thought you did a how to fall video once, but I haven't found it. I dislocated my elbow a bit more than a year ago, just because I took the fall with the arm behind me...and that even though I did Judo and Jiu-Jitsu for more than 5 years. Always this stupid reflex...

I bought a nicer set of neoprene type knee sleeves. The really help warm up the knee joints before and during a good session.

Josh you may have already seen this but I stumbled upon Montre Livingston's warm-ups (slow to 0.25x): kzbin.info/www/bejne/gobQiKiseNqUiLMm16s Link takes you to the time stamp. I do yours without skates and then do his when I have my skates on. I found that both your video here and Montre's video back to back works well for me.
