As dog trainer for adult rescue dogs, can yall please make a video about that? Puppies are easy to train but adult dogs (especially with bad history) are a different ballgame.

Great video! The door exit portion was really interesting! Watching puppies reminds me just how short their attention span is 😂😂😂 I love McCann's training methods.

What should I do if 1. My puppy doesn't engage with luring. 2. When she does, she is very chompy to get the treats and it hurts.

My pup took a minute to figure out the luring too, keep trying! I started teaching my very bitey pup a "gentle" command. I would hold the food where she could see it and try to get it and say the command "gentle" , but I wouldn't take my thumb off it until she was gentle with her mouth. It took a few tries, but she now knows what is expected when I say "gentle". She doesn't always do it yet haha, but she definitely knows what I'm asking for.

Here's the issue I have. How do you train the dogs without making them gain 10 pounds? I could never get my ex's pittie to get past the food thing. Eventually, he started walking nice because he was sick of getting choked and then pulled when I switched to a front-clip harness. To my knowledge, he's STILL food-motivated and I'll bet she's gotten him up to 70 pounds easily. How do I ensure that doesn't happen with the next dog?

I've been binge watching these training videos and what I've seen them suggest is take some of the kibble you would actually be putting in a bowl for their meal and use that kibble as the reward. So they still end up getting their food for the day but not all kinds of extra treats.

I use their meals for training. So I might take 2/3 of their kibbles and put it in a bag for training and I’ll only give them the 1/3 in their bowl. I then use that as the reward while also having something more high value if I’m asking for something new. I still do that to this day with my older dog but I hold back less kibbles. They also make training treats that are 2-3 calories each which helps too.
