Due to arthritis I can longer do this but here in middle Tennessee we called this a slick finish. It was my favorite thing. This video made me really miss it. Thanks for the great memories. I hate when the blades would stick and pull up. We made squirt bottles out of plastic drink bottles and carried them with us. Didn’t get crazy but a little water next to the hole then work the blades to it fixed most of the time. Thanks again for great work!!!

Mike. Just the way we used to do it! Perfect work!! I’ll never understand why some crews don’t use a power trowel. Saves so much time and labor

I agree. Only time is if it’s a small slab or in winter time and I will hand trowel it .

@@brentpearson4877 agreed! Makes no sense to me with a decent size driveway or patio to put guys on knee boards.

Any possibility of taking a look at the final product? Pictures or video of how the concrete looks after its curing period, with the joints and without the boards?

Nice work Mike. I airways enjoyed doing my own concrete. Wish I would have learned all I have from watching you though. Man it would be a fun field trip working with you for a few days! Jeff from Pa

Mike. You are the only I see run a power trail machine over the concrete after pouring it. These guys that pour driveways just get 2 or 3 finishers and they work on mage it all, then one guy will put a line about quarter to half inch deep in it depending on the size of the driveway. Some of these driveways sre 30 feet wide to may e 150 ft.long.

Q: why the edge line between the wood and the slab?

That protects the edge from breaking off from foot traffic and vehicles in and out of the garage my guess.

Does air in the concrete mix contribute to the steel sticking more and pulling up holes like that?

You said in prior videos that you have been doing concrete work for over 40 years! Unless you started work at 12, that would put you close to 60 like me. How is your back holding up after all these years??
