Chris you inspired me to start cardistry! I recently went through ACL surgery and to keep my self busy for weeks of being in bed I thought of doing magic tricks. Went on KZbin and the first card video I saw was yours and you really inspired me to pick up the cards. Your videos are so entertaining and fun to watch because of your personality, I really love it. Now I'm hooked to my cards 24/7. I barely use my phone now, my mom used to yell at me saying stop using your phone and now it's stop using your cards lol. One thing that seems to really help mean clean up moves is to step away for a while and come back fresh. A small break can really makes a difference. Also for some reason switching up the deck seems to change the mechanics a bit. Each of my decks act a little different. Could just be phycological, but I thought I would share.

How to start cardistry: open up School of Cardistrys youtube channel and start from their first video "grips". Then progress forward. The most important tips i have for beginner cardists: 1. Only focus on the moves you actually like. Otherwise you'll end up wasting your time. 2. Find a community. If you dont have cardist friends irl head over to reddit or discord, the community is the most important thing about cardistry. Without the community, I would've quit over a year ago.

Your last part about your mind practicing even when you're not is 100% spot on. We are learning about mindfulness techniques in my cognitive psychology class. Pro athletes use it all the time. Lots of studies have shown it's effectiveness.

Thanks Chris, like a lot of things, especially on youtube, half of making it look easy is not showing the part where it was really hard. One thing I found that helps me with problem moves is to make the moves very slowly at first, even using your other hand to help stabilize (in a one-handed cut) and to put the cards where they should be and you can then figure out where the cutting hand needs to be and why you keep dropping them. For me, it's usually a matter of where on the fingertip the corner/edge is. A 1/4 inch can be a big difference. Anyway, I started watching your videos to learn some magic tricks to do for my kids and such, but was always fascinated by cardistry, but mostly just to watch. Now the kids harass me for carrying cards everywhere because I also watched your cardistry vids and started wanting to learn more. Lastly, I have your Memento Mori cards and they are simply the best for fanning of all the cards I've used, just so smooth easy to distribute evenly. I hope you make more and do some that are all Ramsey, but closer to traditional card design - think Unchained or DB's Lions series, etc. Thanks again!

I started cardistry when I saw you the first time. I got here from the german KZbinr MrTriXXL, and the first video I ever saw from you was the reverse waterfall tutorial. right on man i still have a bunch and it is actually not a bad concept for a game, but the biggest downfall is you need a little space to play so that thing are not interfering with other people. If i knew someone that would play id still play with the commons or duplicates but i love the art on them you cant find old artwork from that era very often that is intriguing except old magic cards but i new got into that unfortunately i guess lol
