Ive been flying fpv for 6 years now, never did a single minute on a simulator. Back in 2018 there was not many of them around anyway, it was simply trial and error method with my very forgiving walkera rodeo 110. That is how my brain start to grasp all this acro flying. Big open grass area and off we go😅🚀🚀🚀

Nice summary. One I would add is fpv is so immersive that in the beginning I lost spatial awareness of where I was in relation to the drone. In other words, I sent it to the other side of a mountain from where I was standing. I'm glad I started with the dji fpv as it triggered the RTH function and I didn't lose it. Now I'm always aware but it took me a few times to remember.
@DanielJohnFPV5 ай бұрын
Same here. I picked up an Avata 2 for testing, and I’m finding I’m having spatial issues again. The goggles 3 cut light leak so we’ll that I’m getting sucked in lol

Would it be a good idea to start off with a drone like the Tiny Hawk 2/3 Freestyle, maybe a cinewhoop like the Meteor 75, or should I just go all in with a 5” freestyle?
@DanielJohnFPV5 ай бұрын
Some positives and negatives there. First off, I've never flown them so take that into consideration. I've heard that all of those drones are a blast to fly, but sometimes tinywhoops can actually be HARDER to fly than a 5". You are less likely to damage stuff and the drone itself because they weigh less, but tiny whoops also ship with analog VTXs. If you want to eventually get into HD VTXs, then HD goggles will be a big expense down the line. You may be able to use the same controller though which would be helpful. I know that isn't the most helpful lol. Ask yourself: will you want to get a 5" eventually? Because if so, it may be "cheaper" to just rip the bandaid off now.
@Inertia8884 ай бұрын
TIP I would go back and tell my past self, -> DVR is recording the OSD Install a GPS and make sure your DVR is recording the OSD. BF's GPS rescue has come a long way in that past couple years, but on the chance that the battery runs out before the drone is able to make it home, or something else goes wrong, having the last known GPS coordinates, might save you a drone.
@DanielJohnFPV4 ай бұрын
Great tips! Wish I had done that before losing my first one 😅

Im well into the hobby (all equipment and a few drones) but i want to move to digital. Would you reccoment DJI or something else?
@DanielJohnFPV5 ай бұрын
Personally I like the DJI sphere of products, but they are definitely pricey. I've heard some good things about other systems, but I also hear a lot about random bugs that pop up. I'd love to give Walksnail or HD Zero a try, but I'm not curious enough to drop a ton of money on a new ecosystem.
@SmasherFPV235 ай бұрын
Number one tip. Buy what You can afford and spares and batts and just go fly on an open field with medium grass for softening the crashes. The more you fly in real life scenarios the more your brain will learn. Challenge yourself. Do racing or some simple course. Gaps. Chase some driftcars. Do some bando. Have fun. Know the law. Good video Daniel 🚀 Cheers 🖐
