Only other thing that I might say would be to check your screws before flying and make sure everything is tight so you don't introduce more noise into your Gyro, and potentially cause a Oscillation and a disarm.

Thanks! I’m pretty happy with it - especially for the price. The built-in 1W ELRS is really nice. It’s a little more plastic-y than I like, but that just means you can’t really throw it around. I would buy it again. If you wanted to spend a little more money you could go for the Boxer Max or the TX 16, and if you wanted to spend a little less, I might try out the pocket. I haven’t tried either of those, but I’ve heard people I respect suggest them.

I am using a rubber band on all my batteries to tuck the balance cable. A sideeffect is that I always know which batteries are full, empty or on storage.
@DanielJohnFPV3 ай бұрын
That's a good idea. There are some drone companies I know that use a color-coded 3d printed plug for the XT60/90 that corresponds with their charge level. Doesn't help a dangly balance cable, but a good idea if you have a ton of batteries.
@crossbonefpv3 ай бұрын
Nice video Daniel, I put a rubber band round my batteries to keep the balance lead in check. As a bonus it also gives some nice extra grip on the pad ;-) Also use it to keep the empties from the charged and the balanced. No rubber band = empty Rubber band round the balance lead = charged Rubber rand cross wise = balanced. Easy system and keeps me in control of around 40 packs in various Amp sizes. But I still need my battery checker ;-)

Solid advice, especially about lipo voltage. Keeping the pack above 3.5v/cell at landing will increase its overall life. I get well over 500 useful cycles before they hit the 'cliff' and have to be retired. Been at this since 2018 and I still fly 12 to 30 times a day. Whoops are my thing.

Regarding the installation of the antenna before flying: One time I was flying my tinywhoop around the house and forgot to install the antenna on the radio. Everything worked fine and I only noticed that I forgot the antenna after I already flew four lipos. The drone never lost signal or had troubles with the connection. It looks like Elrs is such a good protocol that it even works without the antenna lol

I forgot to put the antenna on my VTX once, it still worked but the signal wasn’t great. You shouldn’t power them on without an antenna either for the same reasons as your radio, basically anything that transmits shouldn’t be powered on without an antenna, this probably applies to receivers with telemetry too.

I made my most expensive FPV mistake 2 weeks ago. I did not setup my Tango 2 to receive telemetry. My Goggles 3 blacked out while flying a week old $450 quad and when I hit gps rescue it flew off into a mountain marsh area with super thick shrubs and grass. I knew I would never find it again but I still spent almost 2 weeks searching that area. Had I just told my Tango to discover the sensors which I had enabled in BF I would have had the coordinates of where it went down in my Tango.

A 1s or 2s drone preferably one that takes BT 2.0 batteries, and the batteries of course. Like most people I started out on a starter kit because you understandably have zero idea what to buy.
