I've been trying to do this for a few weeks. Your tutorials have helped me a lot! I can fairly consistently leg hoop now (when I am not too tired) and I can occasionally get it to rise up my leg to just below the butt but not yet to waist. soon though. soon! Thanks for the help!!

I just started hula hooping and have mastered hooping above my knees but I'm completely black and blue. Is there anything I can do to avoid this or is this a normal initiation of hooping lol
@gabifrostbutter82079 жыл бұрын
You can try a lighter hoop but some bruising is normal

How big is your hoop? Sometimes the hoop size you are using can make this trick much harder
@renardmigrant10 жыл бұрын
I've just paused the video at 5 minutes. I've been having the problem you describe here, my leg motion causes the front of the hoop to go up, but not the back, so it becomes more angled but doesn't go up! Looking at you, I think your second contact point is actually the back of the right leg, driven by the right hip. I will give this a go. And watch the remainder of the video, obviously.
@hoopsmiles10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. Sounds frustrating. Have you attempted using different hoops for this trick?
@renardmigrant9 жыл бұрын
hoopsmiles Six months later(!!) Got it, using the back of my left hamstring as the opposite push point. Same as you just a mirror image.

I've been working on this move for about a month and I was able to move my hoop up to just beneath my hips, but I struggled so much with that last few inches. And now, thanks to you, I can do it! Not really smooth, but that'll come, lol. The thing that worked for me was that you said to keep that body movement going on beside the movement of the leg. Thanks! *so happy*

Right on that's awesome :-)

Trying so hard with this but when I start pushing my knee forward the hoop drops. I hoop to the left and use my left leg to push the hoop. Also I can sometimes get the hoop up to the top of my thighs after extreme amount of effort but it won't move up past my butt. You make it look so easy! No hoop help where I come from so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Have been trying this for a year now.
@hoopsmiles5 жыл бұрын
Have you tried doing this trick with other hoops? What size and type of hoop do you use?
@gillhaslam79615 жыл бұрын
@@hoopsmiles Thanks for replying. I have tried different hoop sizes. I'm thinking the problem might be my posture. I've backed off for a while because I've hurt my hip trying to do this. Physio corrected it but I think I'll skip this one before I do more serious damage. Thanks for the great tutorial though.

What Size is this hoop?
@hoopsmiles4 жыл бұрын
I don't remember exactly, but if I had to guess, it's probably 35 inches in diameter, 1/2 inch tubing
@Zimuahaha7 жыл бұрын
I find that I have to really exaggerate that foot/knee movement to get the hoop from knees to thighs. I was able to do it several times for the first time yesterday! But now my legs are completely lit up with bruises, lol!
@Zimuahaha6 жыл бұрын
Wow, so this took me forever! 8 months later, I can finally get it up every time with my big dance hoop! Granted, I did give up on it many times during those months. Now, onto getting it every time with the smaller ones...
@josannejackson256 жыл бұрын
Well done! Just starting out at the bruising stage myself, so maybe I'll be there in 8 months, then!
