I think discovering K-dramas in the pandemic might actually have saved my life....I cried and laughed so much watching them. The creativity and acting are far better than anything in the UK/US...theyre much more detailed, realistic and show all sides of life. The first one I watched was Its ok not to be ok...cant remember how many Ive watched now. From K-dramas Ive found a new appreciation for Korean culture and have gone on to exolore it more, to try different foods, listen to Korean music and to try to learn the language. I wished Id discovered Korean culture sooner as I would have made it a bigger part of my son's life- I definitely think the world could learn alot from Korean culture.

I'm really loving your podcasts, beside the fact that they can be greatly helpful to Korean learners from all the different levels beginner to advanced, they're also very calm and relaxing :) thank you so much for your hard work.. Interesting choice of topic, I've been watching K-dramas for more than 8 years now, I agree with all what you said, K-dramas have been a comfort space for me throughout the years, I think the reason why K-drama appeal to many people that much is due to the array of emotions it allow them to experience, a kind of experience which really hard to find anywhere else, everything from settings to dialogues to characters to soundtracks- which are usually filled with emotions. They make me see life from different lights, brighter lights "even the tragic ones", they're emotional and humane :) i can go on and on 😂 I have many favorite dramas but one of them is "my Mister" it portrays all the qualities I listed above, and the drama I've been watching lately is " twenty one twenty five " a wholesome drama and definitely added to my favorite list".
@storytimeinkorean Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for saying that!! 🥺 it really means a lot to me ❤️ I’m so happy that you like my podcasts ❤️ And you’re absolutely right!! K-dramas let you just fully absorb the emotions of the characters by amplifying that part for the audience with soundtrack that works perfectly with the scenes! I have a playlist in Spotify that’s just a collection of my favorite soundtrack from dramas haha. My Mister is my husband’s favorite. We absolutely loved that show. It is really different than normal romance dramas. ‘Grown Ups’ by Sondia is in my list!!!! And we also watched Twenty one Twenty five, that show was so wholesome 🥺🥺 it had amazing actors too!! 정말 감사합니다!! 🥺❤️ 다음 팟캐스트도 기다려주세요! 💖

These videos are wonderful. I really appreciate how clear the hangul font is, it's so much easier to attempt to read. It's interesting to see the hangul along with the English, it makes me realize how differently the sentences are structured between the two languages as I hear what you're saying and see where some of the words actually are in the English form. I have been watching a couple K-Dramas concurrently. I am watching Heartbeat and only a couple episodes are coming out weekly, so in between, I've been watching My First, First Love. I just finished it last night. I think the thing I love most about K-Dramas, in addition to everything you said, is they are wholesome. They remind me of US movies from the 50's and 60's. The characters take the time to build their relationship and are very clear about becoming a couple or not. It's like seeing a favorite book in film format, where you really get to enjoy the details. Another thing I really appreciate about K-Dramas is the quality of the filming and the soundtracks. The series The K2, for instance, felt more like watching a movie - the filming techniques and overall quality was just amazing. I'll be looking forward to more stories, I think they will be very helpful to me in learning Hangul. 담사함니다
@storytimeinkorean Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment! ❤️❤️ Yes!! Isn’t it so interesting how different the sentence structures are in between English and Korean? I’m so glad Hangul was easy to read for you! And I can’t agree with you more, k-dramas are wholesome. I do think Korean shows focus more on the various ‘emotions’ of each character than other dramas, which makes it more personal, relatable, touching, and wholesome! And you’re right, the filming quality is great! Even for the ones with a lot of CGI, the scenes are really clean and realistic. I haven’t watched K-2, but I’m sure the quality was satisfying! Thank you so much again for sharing your experiences and thoughts, I really appreciate it! Stay tuned for more videos where we can share our memories again!

It’s just that starting with the third sentence, you are not ending sentences with ’요‘, unlike the first two sentences. It would be great if you can be consistent with whatever level of formality you choose throughout the statement, you know? :)
