Love night fishing! Your saltwater series definitely makes me want to get to a coast and fish some saltwater. When I was a kid we'd go out in the yard at dark and catch a bucket full of night crawlers then head to a pier on the lake. We'd fire up the lanterns and fish all night long. Miss those days!

I live in San Diego county which can be a bit tourist-y and this is why I stopped fishing the piers and stopped beach fishing except from the few secluded beaches around here that aren't crowded because they are harder to get to. It's so annoying to have people walking by asking you questions every 5 minutes.

Just got back from vacation there and caught some nice little blue fish off that pier with my old Penn 4400ss/6'7" Ugly stik using a Gotcha lure. Went till late at night one evening and caught a lady fish then a little Barracuda on my first cast off the very end of the pier straight out into the dark unkown still using the Gotcha. He was a nasty little thing snapping and carrying on the whole time I was unhooking him.

@JohnsFishTales7 жыл бұрын
I remember going to the pier with my grandfather and watching some guys catch a bunch of rays. One guy in particular would set a 5 gallon bucket over the tail, then sit on it while he removed the hook. Pretty clever idea, and it never hurt the fish.

@rodfather_bass_fishing7 жыл бұрын
The Oregon coast is mostly rock... only a handful of beaches up and down our coast. Some do surf fish, but not many. Most coastal fishing is done on charter boats for salmon. Big industry up here. Commercial crabbing is big too.

Nice video! You can try with diferent baits: squid, small crabs, some beach worms. Try to use some heavy pound, when the sea is a little heavy. Bigger hooks = less bites, but bigger fishes. Here in Brazil, we use some kind of "elastic string" to help the bait to stay on hook (for surf fishing, most of times). I don't know what line you are using, but you can use some lighter (we use 4-6lbs, in surf fishing, maybe 12-15lbs in pier).
