Love night fishing! Your saltwater series definitely makes me want to get to a coast and fish some saltwater. When I was a kid we'd go out in the yard at dark and catch a bucket full of night crawlers then head to a pier on the lake. We'd fire up the lanterns and fish all night long. Miss those days!

Nice video. This video has me wanting to go to the pier here. It's $5 to fish all day. I love using shrimp and caught plenty of fish out there. I used DOA Shrimp and the trout loved them. I lost 2 out of 3 and it sucks since they are almost $8 for a pack of 3.

Now you have me wondering if pier bathrooms are connected to the sewage system or if they just flush into the ocean, because if it's the latter I can definitely see why some fish would be consistently lurking near it.

I live in San Diego county which can be a bit tourist-y and this is why I stopped fishing the piers and stopped beach fishing except from the few secluded beaches around here that aren't crowded because they are harder to get to. It's so annoying to have people walking by asking you questions every 5 minutes.

Just got back from vacation there and caught some nice little blue fish off that pier with my old Penn 4400ss/6'7" Ugly stik using a Gotcha lure. Went till late at night one evening and caught a lady fish then a little Barracuda on my first cast off the very end of the pier straight out into the dark unkown still using the Gotcha. He was a nasty little thing snapping and carrying on the whole time I was unhooking him.

I remember going to the pier with my grandfather and watching some guys catch a bunch of rays. One guy in particular would set a 5 gallon bucket over the tail, then sit on it while he removed the hook. Pretty clever idea, and it never hurt the fish.

@rodfather_bass_fishing
@rodfather_bass_fishing 7 жыл бұрын
The Oregon coast is mostly rock... only a handful of beaches up and down our coast. Some do surf fish, but not many. Most coastal fishing is done on charter boats for salmon. Big industry up here. Commercial crabbing is big too.

Nice video! You can try with diferent baits: squid, small crabs, some beach worms. Try to use some heavy pound, when the sea is a little heavy. Bigger hooks = less bites, but bigger fishes. Here in Brazil, we use some kind of "elastic string" to help the bait to stay on hook (for surf fishing, most of times). I don't know what line you are using, but you can use some lighter (we use 4-6lbs, in surf fishing, maybe 12-15lbs in pier).

Awesome. I'm a beginner and going to florida this weekend. So the weight goes on the bottom of the rig? Hook is above it?
@RealisticFishing

This is one way to do it. I like to rig it this way so that when the line is tight, the bait is always just off the bottom. (However long you make it from the hook to the weight)

those croker look like redfish. how do you tell the difference? they just don't have a spot on the tail?
@RealisticFishing
@RealisticFishing 7 жыл бұрын
They have little barbels under the chin, also faint lines on the side of the fish, and they croak. Redfish had no barbel and no lines. Thats the way I learned anyway 👍

lol I had to google whether white trout was an American name for cod. Edit: 9:33 I'm pretty sure that's actually a skate, I've caught and eaten a _lot_ of those things. Why throw it back in? Mind you, I'm not complaining or anything like that, genuinely enjoyed that video and subbed a couple minutes in. Edit 2: 2 seconds. I only needed to watch 2 more seconds to see you correct that. Sorry about that.

@@RealisticFishing lol well, that's fair enough. No need to kill the things if they're not going to get eaten, I suppose. I live in a literal arctic fishing village and have been around the fishing industry my whole life so I was somewhat taken aback but I'll stop bringing it up now, I promise.

You do any crabbing while you were out on the pier? That pelican... I'd have been threatening to cook him. #tastejustlikechicken
