Layered armour is amazing, and adds so much depth for such a 'simple' mechanic. Definitely one of the best aspects of legends!

I'm mixed on layered armor while it adds complexity, I think it becomes too much of an inventory management game. At least for a kleptomaniac like me who wants to keep spares even though I know my brothers have better or equal gear. I think cutting down on layers or a having more "set" gear is great. Set gear being something like the Adorned armor set from an Oathtaker or the Lindwurm Slayer starting gear.

The best advice I can give for early start (and not in this video) is dogs. It cost 250-350, it doesn't increase the encounter difficulty, and when you're lvl 1-2 it's basically a second bro you throw out of your pocket when you need, and you can have as much dogs as you have bro, so you can virtually double the team strength on battle. I never use them on start of battle or easy fights, but if you were unfortunate to go in a bad fight, they're the ultimate game saver of this game. I cannot count the number of almost dead bro I saved with few dog drops at the right time

Dogs can be a good emergengy distraction or a help to chase down fleeing archers and such. I'm not the biggest fan of dogs as a increase in combat strength as they die rather easily and give free confidence to enemies. But in a pinch they can be helpful :) Thanks for the two cents.

Also don't forget contract and non contract enemies and locations scale completely differently and don't be afraid to clear enemy camps close to civilization in the early game as they very often have great loot aside on top of whatever armor and weapons you loot. Also chance for named items which in the early game can be the difference between a failed run and a God run

I really love how you preach our lord and savior nets. I've recently started playing the game. I got about 150 hours in! Ever since I've been equipping nets and hitting them with alps and big targets I fell in love with them.

Nice visual, audio edits. Well rounded & important tips for new players Would like to add a justification for taking Follow the Tracks during the early game: Its easy as long as you read where the tracks are located from town, then attack them during night to min max risks from ranged attacks, also enemies dont engage you and might not run away too far, most of the time. Plus the enemy in the open field is more likely to rush you compared to those in their base (Bandit hideout quest), wasting their fatigue while allowing you to seek & secure some highground. Thank you for the guide. Battle Brothers is a very interesting game, but above all, this particular mod caught my attention due to the armor layer system. I loved that in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and I couldn't find a similarly well-executed system in other games until I came across BB Legends.

Id say most enemies in legends are kinda same difficulty even on legendary difficulty. There were times when each goblin and spider had nimble, each zombie had nine lives (and they get another after each resurrection), that was pure hell. The hardest now are probably barbarians, in midgame they spam with chosens and armoured trolls, white direwolves are crazy, and lindwurms and stollwurms are absolutely disgusting, dont ever try to fight them, they gonna make you insane even when all your roster is 50+ mdef, 110+mskill and 300\400 armour.

Yeah, over time enemies have increased in threat/strength and decreased (depending on the patch). (and yes, nimble spiders/goblins were rough, and nine-lives zombies were hell...) Nowadays, the mid game barbs can be rough, and the end game groups of big boys like lindwurms & unholds too. This guide is more focused on the early game though, so being wary and avoiding most 'unfair' enemies is definitely recommended :)

I'm playing with this and the stronghold mod. It gives so much content and options to play around with. I got a pickpocket as a sort of meme because I wanted to create a knife br- I mean, sister. She's sitting at 99 melee attack when a knife is equipped and from dexterous (training), 180/215 armor, 75 hp, 73 fatigue WITH armor, and 79 MD with 42 RD (with dodge and legendary southern shield), beserk, fast adaptation, battleforged, and fearsome. AND SHE'S ONLY LEVEL 12 (Every 5 levels after 10, your brothers and sisters get another perk point). She never gets hit - ever. Memes are funny, but memes are scary when they work. Furthermore, it honestly makes you have to think about whether you want to take battle sisters over battle brothers too. I have to say I ended up with an almost split between the two (currently 11 battle bros with 13 battle sisters with several more in the stronghold), but I get more pleasantly surprised from the battle sisters stat wise than the bros. Guaranteed baseline extra fatigue is no joke. Qiyans can also be super busted depending on your rolls too.

I often came across user modifications to different games and fell into traps like: - some bugs or were realized ideas that were not very valuable. This modification legend is a full-fledged development of the ideas of the game developer himself or is it a subjective offshoot?

Not a big fan of layered armor. But that's just because i dont like inventory managing that much. The mod is pretty fun, but i think its worth mentioning that those "go hunt hexes, ghosts and night creatures around x town" are a trap. Complete waste of time and i avoid them every chance i get.

Understandable about the layered armour, it really does slow the game down and keep you in your inventory for much longer trying to organize things. Despite the gripes, I think layered armour is invaluable to the gameplay of legends mod. The flexibility of tailoring armour sets for builds (and fashion ofc haha) is soemthing I couldn't live without. Yeah the hunting quests are pain and I avoid them almost all the time :)

Yeah I don't think it messes with achievements. Matter of fact I don't think any mods do. I just downloaded mods (including legends) for the first time the other day and have gotten a few achievements in that time.

Is there a guide for armor layers? As soon as I got 10+ bros I just cannot memorize all their layers and cannot really tell which layer is better without re breaking those layers from all my bros and comparing all bunch of layers together one by one😂

Armour layers can be rather complex, I don't have a guide for it yet soz. Hopefully I'll get to make one in the future :)

I usually recommend newcomers to the game (and mods) to try out vanilla first to get a less complex introduction to the game. The modding scene focuses on adding extra content (mainly complexity and options for gameplay) and the base game is unforgiving and complex all on it's own. People in my community have dived right into mods and enjoyed, and others have done the vanilla trek first, so it's personal preference (I just make sure people don't get too overloaded with builds, enemies, and content IF they don't want to be overloaded) :)

Haha, understandable. It's a rather unforgiving game most of the time. Strategy and game knowledge gets you far and it is enjoyable, but the game doesn't hold your hand and even with close to 2k hours, I'm not immune to it's pains and frustrations :p

My best advice for having an enjoyable and non- painful experience is to just cheat. Use bro editor and give yourself modest to OP bros and have fun. The RNG in this game is brutal; I'm masochistic, don't get me wrong, but this game doesn't even have the courtesy to spit before fucking you

Your not masochistic if you use bro editor. Editinf the best bros is easy/cheat mode. In Legends its allready possible to see the stars when you use try out which is allready quite a bit easier compared to vanilla. Broeditor almost destroys the intention of the game devs, but ofcourse everyone should do whatever their personal preference is while playing single player games :)

@@TheIndomitableSnowman About 1500 hours sunk into it, and about half that time on the discord. They added a bunch of stuff yes, new skills, new classes, equipment, etc etc which is great!...and then systematically went about nerfing pretty much everything that allowed you to get ahead or even stay at an even keel. The mod is made by grognards, for grognards and encourages meta builds even moreso then the base game. Back before there were all the expansions it was better, but the expansions filled holes in the base game quite well.

I have close to 1500 hours with the mod myself and have enjoyed the game on increasing difficulty over the years without feeling like I ever needed to be 'meta'. @@TheIndomitableSnowman Np sir:) I do enjoy the mod, all the new additions etc. Up until ~mid game. Then there are just huge difficulty spikes.. Perhaps thats changed in the last year or so, but yeah..in 2020 it was a terrible experience.

@@rpscorp9457 Maybe you should have started with "I'm 2 years out of the loop" instead of "this mod sucks now compared to the base game and that the devs are idiotic" I 100% know that the ongoing development of this mod has been rough/shaky at times and bugs and content has shifted over time. However, almost all of the changes have pushed this mod forward into an enjoyable experience for the community at large. Gotta remember it's an ambitious project for a community and it's a bunch of dedicated modders who are freely donating their time and effort to make this mod fun and functional.
