Thank you! You can work overlay mosaic flat....just FYI

yeah, I know. I'm pretty sure I mention it in the video. You just have to cut your ends at the end of every row. I really don't like doing that, but it works perfectly fine! xx

I agree. That's why if you watch the video I work the whole chart on camera to demonstrate what I explained.
@madykunz60214 жыл бұрын
Yes, but it's not didactly. You are many times out of the camera, or you accelerate the video. When you start, you already have two rounds done. You have to start from the beginning and go slowly through the whole process. When you read the comments you can see that many people have doubts. I realize teaching on you tube it's not easy and it's also totally different from traditional teaching. I have been looking and learning many things on you tube. For the people who watche is also not easy at all. Sorry, that's just my opinion
@NomadStitches4 жыл бұрын
Well, I'm very sorry it's not to your liking. From what I understand, people are asking questions that extend beyond the technique I share here. So far I haven't had any comments saying that they don't understand what I am teaching in this video. I fast forwarded the parts that are repetitive. You can always rewind and rewatch my explanations. I also clearly explained in writing and by saying why I have 2 rows done. They are just 2 rows of sc, so I didn't think it was necessary to show how to work them. This is a Special Technique for crochet, not exactly for beginners. I really hope you give it another go. It's such an easy and wonderful technique! And yes, I am working hard to stay in the shot 100% of the time. I've learned that it's harder than it looks!

I'm a little confused. This is the same as overlay crochet and it can definitely be worked flat. Have you tried?
@NomadStitches3 ай бұрын
Hi! It is very similar to overlay crochet but with a few differences. And yes, it can be worked flat but you have to cut the yarn at the end of every row, which is something that I mention in the video.

It would be great if you show the back of this swatch as well, I'm wondering what happens to all those loose bits of wool.
@NomadStitches2 жыл бұрын
Hi! If you head to my website, I have a blog post where I go over this technique and some extra images to help. There's a picture there where you can see the back of this technique. It just looks like stripes. Sometimes, if you have a bit with 4 or 5 sts that are worked as dcFLO, the sc behing them might leave a bit of a ridge, but it's really minimal. www.nomadstitches.com/blog/2020/03/26/mo-mo-project-bag-free-pattern

Thank you for your video. Unfortunately, I found the photographing of the crochet demonstration very difficult to see, as you tip/tilt and move your work a lot when you’re crocheting. The camera was set from above, rather than in front of your work.

Hi, I found this to be a very useful tutorial. It went well when I was doing smaller projects. I am currently working on a bigger one - a laptop bag and when I do the joins, I am seeing it move to the right and the line of join is tilting slowly towards the right. I made sure that I was skipping the last stitch when I join, but I am not able to correct the issue. Can you please advise me on this problem? Thank you
@NomadStitches3 жыл бұрын
Hi I am not sure why it's slanting. It shouldn't really do that. May I ask why you are skipping the last stitch when you join? Does that mean that you have one less stitch on every round? That shouldn't happen. You should work on EVERY stitch. Hope this helps. But feel free to email me a picture and maybe I can help more. xx
@PreetKaur-jl6hv4 жыл бұрын
This was very helpful to me. Thank you for making this video! One question -- what if I need to close the base off? do you work in rounds first (as in your tutorial) and slip stitch the base to close it up? Or start with an oval foundation and work your way up? My challenge with the oval foundation is that I never know how many stitches to start with, especially with the increases in the corners & how to tally this up with the stitches required in the mosaic chart. Sorry for this long question!
@NomadStitches4 жыл бұрын
No worries! So you're talking about how to make a base for like a bag, right? I guess you have to consider how many stitches you will be increasing on the corners. For example, in my Mo Mo Project bag I increased 6 at each corner (so 12 per round) and my chart was 12 sts wide. So I made sure I had the right number of sts for exact repeats on the first round of the base, and then just added 12 on consequent rounds until the base was as big as I wanted it to be. If your chart is not a size that you can work like this (for example, 24 sts!), then it's all about maths and trial and error. You'll have to figure out how wide you want the base to be, how many rows you will need to make and just make sure that you have the right amount of stitches on your last round! I know, lots of work! :) Check out my MoMo Free pattern though. It might help you out. www.nomadstitches.com/blog/2020/03/26/mo-mo-project-bag-free-pattern

Very nice explanation! Thinking about only circular rounds, but I can imagine that if we change color every round we can crochet flat. Am I right?
@NomadStitches4 жыл бұрын
Well, to crochet flat with this technique you have to cut the yarn after every row. Which can be annoying but not the worst. I do have another video coming soon for standard mosaic crochet that CAN be worked flat. It's also very pretty!

Hi there, what’s tripping me up is must we “match” the end of each row with the start of the row ?
@NomadStitches2 жыл бұрын
Not at all. Since it's worked in the round, you just do whatever the chart says. Some rows might start with a scBLO, others might start with a dcFLO. It all depends on what the chart is saying. Just make sure NOT to skip the very first st of the round when you slst to join the round.

Dear Sandra, you do not chain 1 when you start a new row, correct?
@NomadStitches4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, I do always chain one when I start a new row. However, since this is worked in circles, to keep the seam invisible I pull and tighten that chain. So you can't really see it in your work, but it's there.

How is this a beginners guide to mosaic crochet in rounds if you don't even show us how to start the ring, where to sl st btw rows, and how to change color??
@NomadStitches Жыл бұрын
Hi! If you have a look, in minute 6 I show you how to make the slst to join the rounds and how to change color. This is not a tutorial for how to work in the round, is for how to work mosaic and how to read the charts. The first two rows (the ring) is simply 2 rows worked in the round. I hope this helps! And sorry if this is not your cup of tea. x
