Happy National Sewing Month. This machine reminds me of my mother's Singer from the 70's. Very dependable machine. I like the black design.

When I break a needle it’s usually because of the fabric being too thick. What a great feature for this machine being able to handle this problem.

Love the dress/top you are wearing. You have bone all out on the beginner sewing machine. Singer has many vintage black sewing machines to choose from and my experience and machines I own, they make a beautiful stitch! Happy National Sewing Month Many machines you can use two single needles together rather than purchase expensive dual needle. First time I've seen decals with machine, nice touch. The metal parts connected to bobbin are means to me--more strength and less tangles. Probably need to place machine on a pad to reduce jiggle. That machine sounds like it needs some oil? Great machine for leather and thicker upholstery fabrics!! I am very fond of the "solid metal" parts, will hold up. The button hole will be a little learning curve to get perfect. Perfect 2nd machine and beginning machine. Good choice.

Janome built a workhorse for the Beginner--I suspect many of the inner machine parts are study, long lasting metal. This would be an awesome machine for sewing heavy fabrics and also for garments. Draperies, throw pillows, throw rugs, quilts, handbags, totes, heavy coats, shoes, yet also including the lighter weight garments such as blouses. The clearance area is large which is much needed for large projects. Great model by Janome. ~ L

Exactly-if you don’t need fancy stitches and want to focus on home decor and sewing heavy fabrics like altering denim jeans and using leather, etc, this is super heavy duty. I didn’t even put the denim needles in. And I finally have my black sewing machine.

She was unphased! My high end Juki does not like the super thick fabric. It can through her timing off then you have to pay hundreds to get it serviced. This baby will be of great use to me as I work on some items using leather, vinyl, denim, etc!

Thank you so much for this review. I was just looking at this machine. Are you still liking it Sheree? I'm wanting to use it for vinyl. Do you think it could handle it. I don't want to buy another expensive machine. I've had to slow down due to illness but can't give it up. I'm 60 and been sewing since i was 9 years old. Lol. I'm not done just yet. Lol Edit: I have 5 machines but they're ALL BROTHERS. 😊 But i have my very 1st singer that was my very own my mother bought for my 15th birthday with the cabinet! Its my most special machine. Its my baby but shes in retirement right now. Shes earned her keep. Love her ❤️

I'm looking for my very first machine, and I've got absolutely no experience sewing in the past. Since I'm not totally sure what kind of projects I'll be doing most, I'm looking for a machine that is sort of a do-it-all. Is a heavy duty machine like this too bulky or strong to do delicate work with light fabrics like silk? I can see myself doing work with heavier fabrics like denim and quilting, but I'd like to be able to try making some clothes for myself and my partner as well.

@@ShereeSchattenmann I’m making a note of that one. Looks perfect for my needs of occasional home dec/bag making/etc. My Juki was not happy with me when I made a rucksack. I want to keep my Juki happy ☺️. I’m really glad you reviewed that one. I had looked at some Juki semi-industrial machines but that’s overkill and too expensive for the amount I would use it. Please let us know how it performs for you after you have had time to try it on different thicknesses. It’s so hard to get a real understanding of a machine with only written reviews. xx
