I haven't read through the comments for full disclosure. I hope there aren't people who are critising your welds, I'm no welder myself but they look pretty good for someone that taught himself weld just a few weeks ago. 👏👏👏

All I can say about the Delta Max is that it is a monster of a power station, able to power devices up to 3400W with ease.
@rileythornton82662 жыл бұрын
What I like best about that Delta Max is that I am able to connect two 400W solar panels to charge it.

Please tell EcoFlow that I have just purchased their River Max on the basis of your recommendation. Thanks for the heads up cobber.

I can't deny that the Delta Max has a lot of power. 2016Wh is a lot for a power station that size.

Nothing wrong with your welds. I’d be clamping your steel on your mitre saw before cutting mitres. Looking good mate. I did similar to a few trailers. You are right. The evoflow or similar is the way to go. I have the bluetti 2000 max.
@Australian4x4Adventures Жыл бұрын
Yeah I was being super careful about cutting the steel on the mitre saw.

Trailer is coming along nicely 👌 the one thing I want to see on the ecoflow is secure 12v connections either by Anderson plug or the screw in Engel type. But agree with the ease of using an all in one system. Looking forward to the next however many episodes for the trailer, cheers 🍻

If ya welder has a voltage meter on it, then drop the power back to about 16-18V for the vertical downs on the outside corners. That will save you a lot of grinding........ I would have jigged up the door frames on some ply to save a bit of time squaring, measuring and fluffing around..... You're doing a great job, so keep it up. Are you going with some composite cladding??
@Australian4x4Adventures2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah went with alucabond panels. ( next episode)

I did not expect that portable power station to have 2kWh of power.

Loving this build! I've been toying with the idea of doing the exact same thing to my trailer for ages. Really looking forward to seeing what you do with the cladding on the outside because that's what I'm struggling with. I'm certainly no boiler maker either so not 100% on what will be strong enough. Looking forward to next week. Thanks for sharing mate

Look into composite aluminium panels. If you’re in Oz you can get it at Bunnings.

@Australian4x4Adventures2 жыл бұрын
I stuffed up one of the mounts for the struts and now the door doesn’t work properly. Ow you’ve got me wondering if I’ve used the wrong thumbnail for this vid. It might be next week’s episodes thumbnail. My bad.

When welding vertically like on those corners weld downwards, top to bottom, then you won’t get the excess metal drips.
@thebundybear55572 жыл бұрын
Looking good but, run a tape over your doors if you only squared them up at the start they won't be square hahahaha Only takes 1 tack to pull it all sideways, tack it, check it, do the outside corners and stager all welds to opposite corners to keep your heat down and check it again. Stagger the tops and do a final check. Limiting heat in 1 area is key. It only takes 1 good tack to pull a train ;)
@Australian4x4Adventures2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s exactly what I done. Tacked everything then re checked and then fully welded.
@DirtRoad4x42 жыл бұрын

Also a way of getting those butt welds flatter is to grind a 45 degree chamfer on the end of your tubes so that you are welding into a vee shape.
@2UZFE2 жыл бұрын
G’day Steve , did you gusset the original basic frame your building onto ? , in the corners ? . Other than that it’s a great build mate and bloody good on you for giving it a go 😎👍🍻🍻
@Australian4x4Adventures2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate. Nah I never did because I ended up welding it the frame to the trailer below it which i thought would give it enough strength.

Yep. But with a metal cuttting blade.

You need to clamp the metal down at least (when you cut it). I've had some close calls cutting metal and could have been injured really badly if I had been trying to hold it with my hand. In fact, I use those diablo blades a lot. I have had the teeth on blades (not just diablo) break off and grab the work piece a few times.

Separate solar gear means only replacing one part when it dies - and they do die... I don't like the idea of putting all the proverbial eggs in one basket. If one part of it dies then the whole system dies. It would be nice to do a build like this from scratch but my welding instructor at TAFE told me my weling looked like worms on drugs - I gave up LOL
