Good video. I would add that anytime a different weight lure, worm , whatever, is used, the tensioner should be readjusted to its weight.

Great straight to the point, well shot, directional video. Thanks so much for this. I fished a lot when I was younger and have been getting into now more again as an adult. Always used spinning combos but recently decided to try bait casting. Man if the start of your video didn’t describe perfectly my situation. I would go out, bring my bait caster and a couple spinning setups, cast the baitcaster, get tangled up, then just switch to the spinning after spending 20 minutes trying to untangle. This helped me so much and I can now at least cast!

Excellent info, straight to the point. Baitcasters have come a long, long way since I was your age. My first (which I still have) has a non-adjustable (other than opening up and removing one brake) centrifugal brake and free spool (those 2 features, luxury then), spool tension knob, and clicker. That's it, no drag, have to thumb while playing a fish. Having grown with such primitive gear, I'm used to thumbing, and tend to set brakes and spool tension light to cast rockets.

ANYONE THAT IS NEW, put the centripetal braking system less then half or half way, if you put it at 1 quarter and try to cast with a heavy lure far, it will lashback. I tried it today in a field, I have 23 clicks, I put mine at 11 and it works

Thank you for helping me out man. I’m an experienced fisher and I fished since I was 6 years old but it’s been a couple years since I’ve went fishing, this video helped me because I own a Lexa-WN 300 HS fishing reel and I always backlash on it and I never knew just by simply adjusting the drag set to its tightest and slowly readjusting it made such a difference. Now I can fish without having to worry so much about running into a birds nest all the time and loosing lures you’re a big life saver.

I’ve been using these for years and no one had explained the set up part to me as well as you just did. I’m decent... but always run into at least one major hiccup every time I fish and switch back to the spinning reel to cut out down time. Excellent video
