I love your videos. I get a wealth of knowledge from you. Thank you for that. Now to my concern, we have lost a couple really good guys this year due to falling from their boats while trolling. Please hook your kill switch to you. I pray for you every time you walk to the back of the boat. Be safe my friend. And keep putting out the info.

Thanks, Heath! Out of NC there are days I can’t get away from them but for the last 4 years, I’ve yet to boat a Key Largo Blackfin on my boat.

Thanks for the great info. So the terminal rig is just 1 oz skirted jig? @ 8-10 kts? How deep does that run them? Imagine pretty shallow?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing10 ай бұрын
Yep 1 ounce weighted skirt. Yes 8-10 mph. Lure trolls just below the surface. Tight lines 😁

Hi Mickey. Since I'm out of the game for a bit.. all I can do is help... And hope my boat misses me as much as I miss it 😁. Hope all is well in Palm Bay. Winter is almost over. Talk to you soon. By the way, I'm now doing a livestream fishing report every Tuesday at 6:00pm. If you available, drop in and say "Hi".

I got an assortment of teasers,soft(small size)and 2 bigger hardwood behind.(i understand the principle of it .bigger fish chaises the smaller ones)... 1 hook on a skirt on the end? Easy transition from "yoyos" to rods!planners to down riggers! And plentiful "grunts" on the reefs...
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing10 ай бұрын
I personally like double hooks on skirts

We have them off the okaloosa island peir right now, a guy told me to use a white z man fluke and a short shank 1oz triangle jig head, to rig it upside down , and to just reel it straight really fast, is that good advice or is there a better way
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing2 ай бұрын
Sounds good to me... If it works... solid.. if not, I'd go with a 3/4 white bucktail jig. Same method, pitch it out and reel it in as fast as you can.
@jb567610 ай бұрын
What do you use those bucktails for?

My wife and i are moving down to FL. Those e blackfin are on the top of my list that im dying to catch.. that and mahi. I dont have salt fishing rods yet. Do i need to sell the farm to get a huge quiver of rods?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing8 ай бұрын
No I wouldn't go doing that yet 😁. Get some medium class gear, spinners & conventionals 15-30 lb class stuff... Spool it with 20 lb test and that'll get you started
@williamlutsch42598 ай бұрын
@@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing i guess itd be the same for someone watching videos of fishing here in the Colorado rockies where im born and raised. Youd think, by watching videos, youd need flyrods from 4-6 weight just to get your foot in the door. I mainly use a 4 wt 95% of time, have two spin rods for the wife and i and just a couple pitchin rods for bass in the city
