Excellent video. I just bought the Tanacom 1200 a couple days ago. It doesn't even have line on it yet. I am out of San Diego, so my situation is a little different. First, you can only use two hooks in CA. Second, we have a species of rock fish that is prohibited (Cow Cod which can weigh up to several hundred pounds), so I have to work out how to descend them if I catch one. Lastly, we have sword fish out here. This reel is not intended for sword fish, but that is not going to stop my from trying. Squid works great on the west coast also.

Hi Heath, This deep dropping video really explains the specific rod, reel, line and tackle needed for this type of fishing. It's not something you see every day. There doesn't seem to be and end of your fishing knowledge. You never know what you can catch in the ocean. I hope you and the "Crew" are well. Nothing new here, just trying to stay cool. Take care and good luck, Mickey

Hi Mickey, I love deep dropping, and bring people out and teaching them about it. Most folks are amazed to find out there are fish on the bottom in 800+ feet of water. Not to mention they are delicious. Everything & everyone is good here, hope the same for you up in Palm Bay. Take care, talk to you soon.

I was wondering is the swiveling roller guide for deep drop fishing you talked about at the beginning ...just on the line..or is it used to replace the tip thst comes with your fishing pole ?? Thank you...I live on Prince of wales island alaska where we deep drop for Sable ( butter fish or black cod ) fish We are the longest and 3rd largest island in the USA...give us a visit some time.

Comes on the rod. But, you can always have one put on. Really helps with relieving tension and chaffing from a stationary guide.

I have that same reel that rod nd they are new with 600 yard of the line the load I have 3 type of light and I have that same rig also bud I will make a longer rig with 8 hooks so to guarenty 3 or more fish each time and I did buy a boat and also a solar panel that I will receive it this week.. SONE QUESTION FOR A SPECIALIST AS YOU SO J CAN HAVE GOOD KNOWLEDG IN DEPTH FISHING. I do live at Curacao a usland nearby Venezuela and I won't to know what are the best bait you do use there for red queen snapper ... Golden tile and GROEPERS ? Those fish are my target. Do you ever spot-lock with a trolling motor or are you always drifting to cover ground?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing2 ай бұрын
I've got some friends with spot lock.. way better that anchoring... But I drift for different reasons... Going for mutton snapper, jigging... But let's say I'm going for yellowtail, that spot lock is the way to go. When it comes to deep dropping I've never tried it, I'm usually drifting to find the bite.

@@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing Fished with a guy who used to triple up brown paper bags with a rock in it and bait. sink to the bottom on light line and pop it til bag rips open and chums the area. swore by that method.

What class did do you recommend? 30-50 or 50-80 or stronger? For Rosie’s and tilefish. Not swords
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishingАй бұрын
50-80... A big tile or a 5 pack of Rosie's will work that 30
