Very good and informative video mate. Drone fishing is a real game changer for land based fishing, eh I always use a forward facing hook on the drone as release. The thought of a tension release used to freak me out a little but I think I'll give it another go. Just gotta figure out the right tension and then stick to the same line diameter as you say. Looking forward to more drone fishing vids.

Great video thanks. How many casts with 5 baits would you get out of a battery charge for the Mavic Air??
@fisheatrepeat10 ай бұрын
Thanks mate! Umm I haven't used the mavic air in years since i broke it haha so it's hard to say it had a smaller battery than the air 2. But I think about 3 drops? Out to around 300m but the more baits/weight and further you go the less # of drops if I'm not filming and going quick I can do about 5 drops per batt on the air 2
@ozstriker234310 ай бұрын
Thanks. Does it auto return when low batt, or do you have to bring it back to be safe at a certain % battery?
@fisheatrepeat10 ай бұрын
@ozstriker2343 it will auto return if you have it set to "return to home" but it's slower. So I have my warning battery setting set lower (riskier) and just send it home quick as manually once it gets the warning

@fisheatrepeat2 жыл бұрын
The Gannet drone can carry huge baits eh! I'm not sure on your question sorry are you asking for a recommendation on rods?
@fisheatrepeat2 жыл бұрын
Hey for some reason I can see your reply on email but not on KZbin lol. Anyway, I use two types of rods a Catch (nz made) 3 piece topwater travel rod the other one is a Tica 14'3 surfcaster. If you're going for big fish like sharks then I'd suggest a 10ft land based game rod or hard tip topwater rod from ya local shop. If going for smaller fish but just with a big reel then get a 10-15kg surfcaster (12ft+ to stay above the waves and swell)
@r_rarkinson10 ай бұрын
Nice tutorial man, what mainline/s are you using on your reels?
@fisheatrepeat10 ай бұрын
Hey thanks very much mate!! I'm not too fussy when it comes to braid eh. But usually daiwa Jbraid or a NZ brand called tasline. Always 8 strand braid tho. And usually 50lb but my electric reel has 80lb. I just make sure my sacrificial trace line is the lightest so it breaks there and I don't lose 400m of braid!
@r_rarkinson10 ай бұрын
Wicked! On that note, can you recommend an electric reel too?@@fisheatrepeat
@fisheatrepeat10 ай бұрын
@r_rarkinson the two Main electric reel brands are shimano and Daiwa (in NZ anyway). The older daiwa tanacom 1000 I found were very loud and very basic and also quite wide. But they are cheap! And for drone fishing they're absolutely fine. I bought the shimano forcemaster simply because a mate was selling a mint condition one very cheap. Saying that it's beautiful to use especially mine with the foam handle. Very quiet and very smooth with a thicker narrower body (I think). The beast master is supposedly the "rolls royce" the best, but the new daiwa tanacom 1200 look awesome too. Honestly for drone fishing I wouldn't think it matters too much just make sure they have 25kg ish of drag and have good reviews and hold about 1000m of 80lb braid 👍 this vid was my 1st time using the reel kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqTCmIGsfq-me6s
@r_rarkinson10 ай бұрын
Cheers mate! One last question for ya - how much braid are you running on your reels for being able to send out at most spots? Is 300 m enough, or should I be looking at longer amounts?@@fisheatrepeat
@fisheatrepeat10 ай бұрын
@r_rarkinson I try fit around 300m of "good braid" cause I'm a tight ass and then about 200m of budget 4 strand braid etc on the bottom. You want quite a bit spare in case of having to move your gear due to change of tide etc and more importantly getting a big run from a fish if you have no spare line you'll get spooled! Also haha just in case ya haven't already please sub 😅🙏 means a lot Cheers!

This is the drone I want to start with, I’d rather loose a cheaper one than a Aeroo Pro. Will it fly out a small mullet livebait mate.
@fisheatrepeat22 күн бұрын
@craigwheaton2506 Hey mate I personally wouldn't start with a drone this small eh unless you want it for filming etc as well. It's far more difficult and the payload is much lower, and it struggles in the wind. Also, most older drones, you can't download current software to fly them! But if guna by one, I'd suggest the mavic air2s can get a gannetx sport release from dronefishing.co.nz too!

Hey Mate, I'm looking at a getting penn spinfisher vi 8500 live liner or a Penn Slammer IV 10500 Spinning Reel on a Penn Prevail Apex 12FT 15-37kg Spinning Rod Black 12Ft 15-37Kg What are your thoughts
@fisheatrepeat11 ай бұрын
Hey mate! Awesome question eh I am just such a huge fan of the liveliner eh it's so versatile having the bait runner feature. The slammer are also fantastic but more for topwater use (in my opinion) a 10500 will be very big and heavy but will have a better retrieval rate. The other option is to get a long cast which hold more line on the spool and easier to cast (if not always drone fishing). As for the rod I personally haven't used the 12ft I have a 13 and 15 ft surfcasters. My favorite is my 15ft tica it is just very responsive. 12ft stiff rod would be pretty good for drone fishing and I've heard the prevail is quite stiff! The longer the rod the better it Handles over big waves and snags But the harder it is to wind in so maybe just ask the store ehat they recommend pending what location you're fishing in

Hey mate, ive been using my mavic 2 with electrical release for past 2 years, so tense moments and too nice a drone for fishing so have bought a phantom SE3, also bought an electrical release than doesnt work so considering the gannet release, how do you calculate the tension? like if i go fishing west coast usually need 8oz of sinker, plus i have 3 hooks with whole pillies or squids, as the leader is too long cannot try the weight beforehand, any tips for how you overcome this. If the tension is incorrect then when flying drone out and put tension can image drone going in the drink. Cheers
