I used to grow these in Punjab when I stayed there but not here. Your plant growth has been stunted for some reason and they have started producing before gaining height or fully growing , they are usually a very tall plant bearing never ending okra. They do need a lot of heat as they only grew in June, July and August in Punjab where the temperatures rise up to 50. Maybe. Next time keep them in heated green house , good luck

So glad you've been able to grow Okras as they're so expensive to buy in shops. In Turkish we call them Bamya, and usually cook with lamb. 😊

So glad to see a video on okra. I’ve tried in the past several years but sadly failed. Slugs love them and so do green and white bugs. Good tips on starting late. I have some ready to be transplanted into little pots. They are not as big as yours of course! I’m really looking forward to the okra updates. Weather is really depressing and this year I’m never going to see much harvest I’m afraid! Thank you so much for these wonderful videos 🙏🙏

The weather has been atrocious, far too cool for most heat-loving crops, but the slugs and snails are loving it. We need slugs and snails in the ecosystem, but sadly in our kitchen gardens we can never have the right number of plants to withstand a full on slug attack.

I love eating okra. Well. I am too late for seeding them this year, but I will definitely try next year. I like the square big pots you are using, They are space saving compared to the round ones I have got. Can you please put a link to where one can purchase items you use, you may even be able to make a little money from directing your viewers to such a website. Thank you for your clear instructions. I like people who get straight to the point, which you do, good job. Thank you. I have learnt something today.

I've grown Okras for many years, and one thing that I've learned that causes them to flower early or remain small is when you disturb their roots during transplanting. Now I sowed them directly into a 5 gallon container where they will live out their life. I normally plant 2-3 plants per container and harvest a handful every day.

Good luck with your okra. I've grown it once and I had 2 okras on the plant 🤗🌝 but it was a very cold year. So I'm going to try it again and hope that the weather will be nice. Happy gardening to you as well 🌱🥒🍅🍆🌶🌽

No matter how much you harvest in the end, you will always appreciate it more than shop bought produce. Best wishes, and please bring some warm weather back from Bangladesh!

Slm Ali Raja. I would like to offer the viewers some further advice. Growing Okra in the UK is very difficult. The only way to succesfully grow okra in the uk is: 1) do not transplant. Sow okra seeds in their final location. Even if you are very careful, Okra hates being transplanted and this can set the plant back greatly often leading to stunting 2) although tempting, Okra does not grow well in pots unless they are very deep. in my expereince anything under 10 litres is not suitable. instead sow Okra direclty in a deep raised bed undercover and thin out to no more than 4 plants every sqaure foot 3) Okra does not grow well in standard compost. You need to ammend it with perlite and sand to aid drainage. Okra hates sitting in very wet heavy soil 4) Okra likes very hot temperatures and minimal temperature fluctuations. A polytunnel that gets full sun for most of the day is your best option. 5) do not water okra with cold water. Keep a water butt in your polytunnel that has reached ambient temperature. 6) For the effort, space, resources required the return is minimal. At most you will get two okra fruits per plant. If you are lucky, 3. Be realistic and manage your expectations as this plant is notoriously difficult to grow in the UK. Good luck
