@@DeadDealer83 it's kinda difficult to use the stock screen with klipper because of the way it interfaces with the original mcu. My guess would be that it would have to communicate via uart to the pi and then all of the serial io would have to be mapped in klipper source code. Easier, but slightly more expensive route is to use a 5 or 7 inch touchscreen and then use the stock screen for arduino projects (it's a Nextion on the pro and a dwin on the original 3)

Guys I just found out how to do the levelling part, here to share the way. 1.First we use: BED_MESH_CALIBRATE SAVE-CONFIG 2. Then: set the Z-offset Code: PROBE_CALIBRATE TESTZ Z= (+/-value) Then TESTZ Z=+ or TESTZ Z=- to "bisect" the last position - that is to move to a position halfway between two positions. Finish: Accept

If you're having problems with z-offset, in the printer cfg set probe speed to 2, probe samples to 5 and probe count to 10,10 then rerun calibration.

@TheFeralEngineer - First thanks for doing all the hard work for us!! I am having an issue with flashing the firmware to my Neptune 3 Pro. I do the make and then the CP to rename the file to ZNP_ROBIN_NANO.bin. I then copy the .bin file to the sd card and put it in the N3P, turn it on and wait. after a min or so I turn the machine off and remove the sdcard. when I reboot, it still has the marlin firmware on it, not klipper. Any ideas what i might be doing wrong? Thanks

Ok so stupid me used a SD card that was too large for the board to read. Was using a 64GB card, moved to an 8GB card and everything is working fine now.

Hey there, Just about to buy my first printer. Curious if it would be better going with the Neptune 3 Pro and then upgrading to klipper vs buying one of the new Neptune 4 or 4 Pro? I've heard there are some growing pains that this printer is going through. While Klipper is native to the new N4/N4P, I think there are some challenges with the main board. Since the N3P has been out for some time and well known, going with a N3P and then eventually upgrading might be smarter? Thoughts?

Personally, I'd probably get the 3 and upgrade it with a Slice copperhead c-e heatbreak and connect it to Klipper with either a BTT Pad7 or a BTT-Pi with an HDMI5 display (i've done it both ways on my other neptunes). The 4 has an integral MCU/Linux SBC and no way to decouple yourself from using the original RK3328 based processor without a full board swap, which worries me because of the issues I've seen with the RK3328. The price differential makes it possible to have a better performing machine at about the same price point without the proprietary hardware.

I cannot adjust the Z offset, there is always 4 to 5 mm of air between the sample and the print bed. When I print, the material floats in the air. Do you have any tips?

Yes, the bedmesh wasnt in the Start g Code. The printer goes in the z save zone. With the bedmesh my printer works.

When I go see Ferals files on github I see a printer config but no firmware to flash.. Id hate to brick my new printer already lol but is the pro firmware the same? Should I flash that or find something else? 😊

firmware bin is all the same. cfg files only differ based on the bed mesh and travel sizes. getting comfortable with building your own binary is important because after a while, klipper builds vary so much that they render the current installed bin useless. I have videos on building bin files and there's enough information inside of printer.cfg to build one through make menuconfig

@@AJG54143 take your pick. Installing Klipper the easy way, installing Klipper on a creality ender 3v3se, cb1, pad7, btt-pi... They all go into it to a certain degree. Installing klipper the easy way is probably the best bet, but the ender 3v3se video is just as detailed.

I'm attempting it with a 2b as the official Klipper site says it supports all the way down to a Pi1. I think I can get away with it as I won't be using a webcam but I'll get back to this post with an update.

No problems running Mainsail OS on a 2B so far. I'm connected over LAN and it's been good so far other than z-offset issues but that doesn't seem to be related to the Pi. Make sure you disable Crowsnest if you're not using a webcam (I wouldn't recommend using a webcam on a 2B running Mainsail).

I had some compatibility issues when I tried the 64 bit version. Only pi 4 and up would support it and I wanted to simplify this guide for any pi. Give the 64 bit version a try it should work the same with a bit of a performance boost

Yes only difference is build volume! you can use the same .cfg file but there should be one for the plus and max in the github linked. if you do end up using the pro cfg you can just update the build size values and you may also need to change the bed mesh probing parameters.

I tried it now for a few weeks. But its an pain in the ars. Sometimes it prints fine. And then the next print it "not level" anymore, and the first layer is horrible. Somehow it feels it doest really use the bed mesh and offset somehow after a while or reboot/shutdown. So i am goeing back to stock firmware. But probaly n3 pro and n2s will both go and buy an bambu Labs.

Kind of glossed over a couple of things here, 1 is you can actually BUILD the firmware yourself in klipper, and 2 is how to get the MCU information incase it's not the same as in the config file you leech off someone else. totally not explaining the config file is also a big mistake as literally that's like 90% of peoples issues with klipper

Of course you can run a makefile in klipper but then I’d have to also explain how to ssh into a pi and navigate debian. This is a BASIC easy to follow guide for the klipper beginner on specifically the Neptune 3 pro. Also GitHub is an open source sharing platform so I wouldn’t call that leeching. Tuning a printer config file deserves its own video. Either way thanks for watching

You never explain WHY we would want to do this. Also if Elegoo is pushing this idea, they should release a version that supports the screen, or ship a version without the screen (at a discount).

I don't think any printer ships with a screen that supports klipper. You need a high-end, hi resolution display.

It allows you to input shape and resonance tune with an adxl345. You can print at lightning speeds. Easily cutting print times in half or more. But it requires people to use their brain a little..
