Yes, we do have some customers who use our stencil film with a sandblaster. Depending on the PSI and glass type, you can sometimes still see the mesh lines, and then stencil is only a one-time-use with sandblasting.

Just keep in mind that if you are using a different exposure light and light distance, the exposure times will be different than what we recommend in our guide. You will need to do your own exposure tests to determine proper exposure.

Does this print well on paper (for art prints). Would you be able to wash the stencil with an emulsion cleaner, reapply the emulsion, and reburn it?
@ikonartstencil3 жыл бұрын
Yes our blue stencil film can be used on paper. Our blue stencils are 120 mesh and the purple are 110 mesh. The mesh is pretty flimsy without emulsion on it, but you could probably stretch it in a frame and try to re-coat it 🤷🏼♀️ I’m not sure how that would work. A lot easier to just buy more pre-coated stencil film though, plus then you always have your designs to reuse them later.

Hello, I have the Ikonart stencil film. Is it possible to make a stencil using the design printed on 4-inch by 6-inch glossy inkjet photo paper? Do you have any recommendations for using another kind of inkjet paper/film to print the design before making the stencil?

It has to be transparent film. We only recommend our printer film because it has a special coating on it to make the ink darker.

I just ordered my kit and have veen watching videoes on how to use it. In this video you say you do not have to mirror your image for inkjet but in all the videos I have watched that used inkjet they mirrored. So my question is...mirror or not when using inkjet film?
@ikonartstencil2 жыл бұрын
I mirror all my artwork and some people don't mirror any (inkjet or laser), so it seems to come down to personal preference. The time it matters most is if you have very thin lines or fine details on your artwork. In that case mirroring your art will help to avoid undercutting (undercutting is when the light gets under the edges of your artwork and it happens on all artwork but it's not noticeable on thick bold artwork).

I was looking at another company that offers two types of stencil film; standard and hi definition. Do you have that?
@ikonartstencil4 жыл бұрын
Which company is that? I'm not familiar with those terms when it comes to stencil film. We do have two different mesh counts. Our blue stencils have a finer mesh (120) and our purple stencils have a more rigid mesh (110). This affects the mesh openings in the film. So the blue stencils can hold slightly more detail than the purple because of finer mesh count.

@ikonartstencil4 жыл бұрын
Rachel Sizemore We recommend mirroring all artwork, just to be safe. Generally only the artwork that has fine detail needs to be mirrored, but it doesn’t hurt to mirror all artwork. Many printers will have the setting right in the print dialog box.

@@ikonartstencil When placing the art work transparency on the stencil film does it matter which side is up or down? When the artwork has fine detail will the side of the transparency that has the actual printed image on it burn better to the stencil? The instructions read that it is not necessary to mirror when using the inkjet printer but does not indicate if the specific side you printed on needs to be set a particular way.

I’m completely confused about the transparency. When printing on inkjet, she says print on milky side. When you place transparency on stencil, is the said milky side up or down on the blue stencil?
@ikonartstencil2 жыл бұрын
When you expose your stencil, you want your artwork to be right-reading. So if you have text on it you want to be able to read it. Some people mirror their artwork, so in that case the milky side would be touching the stencil film. If you don’t mirror your artwork then it would not be.
