I know this is an older video, but tip 4 on passing chords is by far the QUICKEST, EASIEST AND BEST understanding of implementing passing chords on youtube. I've never grasped it so elementary. Thank you sooo much. As a beginner, you've catapulted my learning.

This style is what I'm looking for. I play piano at my local Baptist church. I am just playing by ear and trying to be musical, but I don't know the style. Every video on KZbin is more of a modern Gospel. I need THIS.

Haha, I just got another comment saying he needed modern gospel. Maybe I'll make that video next :)

Yes, more Jazzy, blended with a Black Gospel sound, IMO.

Nice playing.. nice group of chords.just some thoughts..I follow you and saw your grace note video.. it is very unique.. If I'm playing in F sometimes I go to the b7( flat 7) (Eb) then the four chord Bb.. I like the ninths...they give flavor..Also I favor the d blues mixed with f blues..I definitely like full chords, diminished passing chords and the sixths definitely are great.. especially Barry Harris.. Really like your music reading lessons.. still working on the Kinemaster video editor.

Love all this, especially the bluesy, jazzy fat chords and licks. Trouble is that I'm mainly playing in a CCM environment and I'm puzzled how to integrate (nicely) this (new to me) stuff. For example, even a "1st inversion passing" seems to be fighting a band that is playing, say, 1 > 4 straight and simple. Any tips would be great, although I'm guessing that the answer is "just stick to the relevant genre", after all, you don't want Jimi Hendrix playing in a traditional classical orchestra.

It's hard to say without actually discussing a concrete example ... If you can send a link to a video and point out a specific timestamp maybe I can provide a more informed answer.
