Fantastic video again Pete. Some really lovely quality bows around from our Chinese friends now for reasonable price. My go to bow that I shoot so well and it has a smooth draw, is fast and likes heavy arrows that go where I look, is my Bear Super Kodiak. However, I recently bought a Win and Win Black Elk ILF riser and married it up with some lovely bamboo and carbon limbs from Topoint Archery. It's a gorgeous fast shooting, smooth bow that only cost just over $400. It's fast and loves light arrows that shoot very fast. That's a great price for here in Australia, because our poor exchange rate and long way for postage makes archery stuff very expensive. My Bear bow was over double the price at around $900. I have two lovely bows to shoot now that compliment each other and make is so much fun on the range. Yes Pete, please do a video with the chrono - I like your videos and find them very interesting and fun. The long videos are much better than the short clips shot in portrait mode.

The arrows I’m using are Accmos spine 600. They are similar to the Gold tip traditional series. If your drawlenght is 27-28” I would recommend spine 600 with a 100 grain brass insert and chose the tip weight from there. Thanks for watching

Peter, I bought the Hermit x8 in 40lbs. It came in a few pounds heavy and I found myself wishing it was a bit lighter. According to the owners manual you can make some weight adjustments by loostening the screws at the base of the limb bolts and adjusting the limb bolts. Well, as far as I can tell, those 2 screws only attact the plate to the riser. They in no way lock the position of the limb bolt. The limb bolts come bottomed out and if you back them out a bit they are loose with no way to lock them. I know this is not your issue, but I was wondering if you would tinker with yours and see if you agree with my limb adjustment issue.
@mtnsloper556 ай бұрын
The manual says loosten the 1 screw clockwise under the limb bolt. There are 2 screws, 1 on each side. They are regular screws and clockwise only tightens the already tight screw. Then they say make your adjustment and lock position by turning the screw counter clockwise.
@peterjuulsgaard6 ай бұрын
You are getting it all wrong man. The locking screws are inside the limb bolt (in the middle) it’s correct that we unlock it clockwise with the T wrench. The bolt is designed so it expands when bolt inside tightens. It took a little while for my self to see it, cause the manual is a little confusing at that point
@mtnsloper556 ай бұрын
Thank you so much Peter. I believe I get it now. You go down the center of the limb bolt with the smaller allen key. Makes sense. I was looking for something on the outside. It's my first ilf riser so still figuring things out

@oledevon on speed no. But if you want the wood option, it’s quite fine. The X10 is carbon foam, so a little faster
@oledevon3 ай бұрын
@@peterjuulsgaard how does the riser hold up against the x10 and are they both the same with being easier to just point and shoot? I know some bows are better than others at that
@bradlauber90973 ай бұрын
Peter I like to know if sanlida put an alluminum limb pocket on top of the wood riser? The lateral block and outside of that looks to be alluminum.. Maybe the company had problems with the side set screws cracking the wood? Maybe thats why Sanlida embedded a steel block instead of the limb contacts on the wood pocket? Thank you
@peterjuulsgaard3 ай бұрын
There is an aluminum limb pocket on the wood and the side set screw is threaded in that, not the wood.

Speed test! speed test! speed test! ha. 40 pounds is a great weight to have fun shooting and lethal enough for deer hunting with a good arrow system set up. Do most new recurves shoot fast flight type strings? My bows are 1960's and 70's models and only rated for dacron type strings. Shoot 560ish grain arrows in the 130's fps.
