Great video i like how you put the numbers on the angles for us to see. Most layout videos the guy will go so fast i can't keep up and it's not helping me learn. Yours is slower paced so i can see better what you are actually doing. Plus you added a pap measurement in add week. Keep these coming dude!

Are you saying a lower top weight is better for two-handed rollers aka no thumb?
@Pinoystriker2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mikey, I used to bowl 1hand and now switched to 2hands. So, I just asked at the proshop to cover the thumb hole. The problem is, my track rolls in between the finger holes. Then I bought a purple hammer and the proshop drilled on it and it’s the same as my old balls, my track goes in between the finger holes. Why do you think it’s happening? Really appreciate if you answer this
@BowlingScience2 жыл бұрын
The purple hammer is so low diff and low flare that it can't flare enough to clear the fingers on the first revolution. And since it doesn't flare much, it stays on the fingers.

I have a PAP that is down, my track is closer to the fingers than the thumb. Do you have to modify the layout, for my type of track, to achieve the the results dictated in the layout guides?
@BowlingScience3 жыл бұрын
Only if your pap is more than 5.5" over. You will prefer pins 4" or shorter usually as well
@luizinhiolv3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mikey. Man, your first oil lane to get the PAP is like mine. I thought it was not ok to get this line so close to the middle finger hole being 2-handed, but now I know I have 10° tilt, which I have never known so far. Anyway, thanks for the explanation. I recently bought a 3-game used (in excellent conditions) 14 lbs Results Pearl and with this tilt will help me to understand and improve my game. Saludos desde México DUDE. PS. By the way, what happened to the rastas?
@precisionbowling3 жыл бұрын
You would have 10 degrees of tilt if your track follows his around the bottom of the ball as well. You have to measure the whole track to calculate the tilt!

Can't show the competing logos... other than that, great video. I like these 'day in the life of a pro shop' vids. Interesting layout scheme, I notice it's not VLS but doesn't seem to be dual angle either. A hybrid of both??

Xtreme performance is a storm shop, with storm staffers in employ. They are nice enough to let me come film during business hours and do my ballwork. There may be another ball in the background from time to time from a different brand.
@BowlingScience3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the No Thumb Layouts are a Lil different than both systems. It places the pin using the hypotenuse of the triangle from fingers to pap.
@atbsigma3 жыл бұрын
@@BowlingScience I actually know what that is!! Makes sense, and must be a little easier than adapting the other systems which were designed with a thumb in mind.

Hi! 4"x5"x2". The 3rd parameter should be the distance of perpendicular from PIN to VAL, isn't it?
@lorenzogonzales35063 жыл бұрын
nope, the 3rd number is pin height from the midline
@nicholauscurphey39252 жыл бұрын
I thought that the center of grip for two handers is not in the palm but between the two fingers....as you are not using a thumb???
@BowlingScience2 жыл бұрын
It is between the fingers. I mark the palm after as it's required by USBC

hello, I have balls that I used one-handed before. Now I've decided to take two hands. I filled it and want to drill again. should i use the old angles? I write the balls and old measurements below. can you suggest me? 900 global the break (40*3 3/4*25) morich seek&destroy (70*3 3/8*40) brunswick diamond back (55*4 1/4*40) Hammer Razyr (60*4 3/4*45) The people I asked were also two-handed players. One person didn't say it would be better if you pierced these balls at these angles. i have an old drill and i will drill the balls there is no proshop where i am. Please I would be glad if you can help.
@BowlingScience2 жыл бұрын
The layouts for no thumb bowlers are called PAL Layouts. Check the community tab for the sheets and instructions. There is also a video uploading today that will launch in the next few days showing the whole process. Definitely find your PAP as a 2 hander first.

Hi there what does drilling such that the pin is in the ring finger do as compared to pin us vs pin down layout? and does this drilling 'ruin' my ball?
@BowlingScience3 жыл бұрын
It doesn't ruin it, but it could roll all over the holes. When you get the pin that low, it sometimes affects the rg contours which determine the axis migration and direction of the flares.
@javonlee58693 жыл бұрын
@@BowlingScience does it have a drastic difference between this drilling vs pin up/pin down on house shots?
@BowlingScience3 жыл бұрын
@@javonlee5869 I never drill the pin below the center of the grip... it's different with no thumb. The lower pin height is equivalent to pin down, and the higher pin height is equivalent to pin up. I use a range of .75" to 2.5" above the "PAP to RF line"
@javonlee58693 жыл бұрын
@@BowlingScience so drilling the pin in ring finger is not recommended for 2 handers?
@BowlingScience3 жыл бұрын
@@javonlee5869 I wouldn't. But that doesn't mean your ball is bad. I like to use highly effective layouts that work for most players, but the lowest I would go is 3/4" above that rf to pap line.
@Pozzaa903 жыл бұрын
Why don't you use polar coordinates for the PAP? it would be easier... Instead of having latitude and longitude you have PAP-Center of Grip distance and angle above or below the midline.
@Unrealchik3 жыл бұрын
Or it is a new layout method (no PSA layout and no 2 angle alyout)?
@BowlingScience3 жыл бұрын
New layout method. The last number is pin perpendicular to the line from ring finger to PAP. Check my "posts" tab on the KZbin page. It has a copy of the layout sheet.

I got a bowling ball, Roto Grip Hustle. I told the guy I do not use my thumb and I want a ball that does not hook too much. He drilled a thumb hole and did not see me bowl prior to drilling my ball. His reasoning for the thumb hole, "I need it to pick up the ball" my ball hooks a lot I been trying to work with it but its tough. Did he ruin my first bowling ball purchase?
@BowlingScience3 жыл бұрын
I would not have paid him. The ball is illegal for league or tournament use if it had a thumb hole and you don't use it...

If he did this on purpose, find a new shop
