R.I.P. Ray Combs 1956-1996 and Gene Wood 1925-2004, we all miss both of you!

Seeing this video makes me think of the end of the final episode. The moment where Ray just walked straight through there and out of the studio.

Wow, this is cool. I've been behind sets before (backstage working and onstage talent), and Ray seems really cool. Must have been great to work with. He was, and always is, the only Feud host I think of, or like. Dawson was a creep - Combs was having fun with it.

Trilons: They were made for the silver screen. Too bad today it’s all about how many LED walls you can get into a soundstage. 📺

Is there more to this footage out there? It appeared that the camera was heading towards the stagehands that work behind the board. I've always wanted to see that operation.

I second that! I’ve always been fascinated with the manual mechanics of the old game shows. I wish there was way more video is existence.

I think in general Ray was pretty nice in the beginning, but then he really started changing towards the end of the run due to his divorce, his financial difficulties (comedy clubs he invested in/owned) and the ratings sagging for Feud. Add Mark Goodson's death in late 1992 and his Jonathan Goodson's decision to being Dawson back to "fix the show", it really made him upset.

And with him being in constant pain from his accedent didn't help either

Ray did a kids game show before he died called The Family Challenge, let's not forget that. That show didn't last.

Michael Hetrick Plus the car accident which actually made things even worse. I discovered that on the day of Ray’s final episode, he just walked off the set without saying goodbye (right after the show was over). However his divorce wasn’t officially finalized. Dawson’s return didn’t make any difference, he wasn’t the same person he was the first time he did it.

Did Richard Dawson come out the same way at ABC Television Center in Hollywood when he was on Feud on ABC from 1976-85?
@RangerRick20226 жыл бұрын
You mean from the (viewer's) left side of the board? Yes. It was that way through 1994. Since the 1999 return, host entrances (except Louie Anderson) have been from the right.
@megamanj2004X4 жыл бұрын
Although on Louie’s very first taped shows, he actually entered from the viewers’ left like Richard Dawson and Ray Combs before him instead of the big board door soon afterwards.

Also Richard Karn entered from viewers’ left like Dawson and Combs before him did as well.

When this clip was on MySpace back in the day, the poster said it was from 1989. We have all the syndicated episodes from 1989 accounted for (at least the names of who played). There are still a lot of CBS episodes not accounted for.
