Uhhh, I don't really consider Shrek to be a kids movie lol. DreamWorks has gotten way with a ton of adult/mature humor in animated movies, and Shrek has a lot of it, especially the first one. Hell, the 2nd one made a joke about a guard finding catnip in Puss's pocket, referring to weed of course. Also, in the freaking third one, the bandits changed the sign to Hooters. And Eddie Murphy has been in plenty of rated R movies as well

Perfect casting from day one. My favourite line in Shrek 4 is “Do the roar”. It’s just so funny!!! I really love watching the cast of animations doing the voice overs and think we should see more of this. By the way, am I the only one that wells up, and needs at least one tissue, every time Puss or Donkey does the “eyes”??!!! How anyone can create that look is just genius. Fabulous films full of humour for all ages.
