The scenic curtain art for Dos Mujeres was designed by Oakland-based textile artist Maria Guzmán Capron whose distinctive style embodies a vibrant fusion of colors, textures, and patterns which serve as a poignant exploration of movement, identity, and the enduring power of storytelling through craft.
Take a look at the intricate creation process in Maria's studio as she creates the mock-up for the curtain and talks us through her artistic practice and inspiration for the work. SF Ballet scenic artists then employ age-old techniques to scale up the design for the Opera House.
