Hey everyone, I’ve been seeing all the comments about the zine situation and I just want to clarify that I am in no way connected to it. I had no idea about the entire thing until after I started seeing comments on this video and did my research. I’m sorry for those of you affected by it, and I hope there’s a good reason for it. I just wanted to make it clear I wouldn’t have posted the video if I knew. I posted it because it was sitting on my hard drive finished and I put a lot of time and effort into making it so I wanted to share. It was filmed back in November/December of last year and I held off on posting it because I never got the scans and I just ended up focusing on other videos. I have no answers/updates on the situation, so unfortunately I’m not the person to give you any clarity on that end of things.

Just want to add to the zine discourse. Although I was dissapointed my zine hadn't arrived a year later, I wasn't expecting news this far on and in the end I bought it to support Trevor, not just to 'own' something he'd made. So I was surprised last week when he reached out, apologised up front about mine not arriving and his comms, then shipped one the next day... which arrived this morning! There's a lot of speculation about Trevor's character and what happened with the zine, but the fact that he reached out without any deflection and made things right when he could have moved on, is proof enough to me he's a decent guy.

I’m happy my zine came after a long while, but I’m just more excited to see more work from Trevor in the future. It’s kind of the main reason why I bought the book in the first place, to just support one of the dopest NY photographers out there

love seeing the process. for everyone complaining about zines.. I got mine in july of this year (took 10/11 months to ship) and personally it was more about supporting an artist that I fucked with rather than having a physical product to show for it. regardless, i'm happy trevor finally getting all of them out.

Trevor is an amazing photographer I thinks that’s why we all gravitated to his work. I’m not gonna lie the zine situation was just as annoying and frustrating for me as it was for anybody else that got it. I followed the usual protocol of leaving comments on his posts about where the zine was with no respond or update which in my opinion was the worst part of it all the lack of communication. Eventually I did get my zine and I think everyone who purchased one did as well or is still receiving it. Now that I look back at that time the man was going through a lot not only with his mother but also a living situation and I believe looking for work as well. Once I opened the zine it reminded me why I bought it in the first place! The pictures Trevor takes are one of a kind but in a way also feels like you’re looking back in time to some old school style New York street photography. I think he learned from his mistake on communicating to his audience but so did I learn how to be more patient and also understand that he’s as human as we are and we make mistakes and we go through hard times just like everyone else. I’m happy with my zine and have nothing against him.

It took a while and a few dms but the zine did arrive. He self-published while trying to make his way in the city, putting most of his time and resources into photo, and dealing with whatever else life was throwing at him. I don’t think his motive to publish a zine was nefarious in any. The work was worth the wait. The book is brimming with personality and full of great work. Sure it was annoying to wait but it was just the circumstances I’m assuming he found himself in at the time. I’m glad I waited and gave him the opportunity to get the zine to me. His work is great and that’s what matters.

For clarity sake, Im writing this, because Trevor asked me to leave my honest experience with him on this Video, everything I write are my own words and he didn't dictate anything I should say. I ordered the Zine in August of last year, got ghosted by the Instagram account and never received my copy. After venting my disappointment in his DM's (and his Instagram comments) I've made my peace with my financial loss and moved on with my life, until one day. Trevor himself reached out to me directly and said that the he send the Zine out to me and that he had no idea, that many of the copies didn't made it to the buyers, especially the international ones (im from Germany) he also explained, that his partners, two other people, fucked him over and he was alone with all the problems that came up. He further said, that some bad things happened in his personal life wich made dealing with all this even harder. (he didn't elaborate further but I didn't pushed him on this, that would've been shitty) we talked for a bit and he, at least to my believe, clearly made an effort to do things right with the people he wronged. I've said to him, that he MUST do an update video or post of some sorts, explaining what happened (as much as he is comfortable to say in regards to his personal life) and he said he would post a video on his KZbin Channel were he will explain what he feels comfortable sharing to the public. He held his word and I received my Zine without having to pay anything more. I totally get the people that would still be angry with him after all the radio silence and maybe you think he just buttered me up and im one of a few people he send the zine to but please remember that he is also a human and apparently had a really hard time. I for one am no one to hold a grudge against someone who tries to make the things right he fucked up, and I really had the feeling while talking to him, that he is trying to do just that. what you do with all that information is you own choice, but I feel like he deserves to be heard in all of this.

I got my zine within a couple of weeks, I know the guy packing them was doing it alone. Trevor didn’t run a shipping operation or anything for this, he sold a good amount and they had to be hand packed and taken to a post office. I guess it was just tough with that many to ship by hand. It’s a sick zine, the print I got with it is cool too. My style has moved towards images with no people in but looking at his zine always makes me want to head out into civilisation and see what mad shit is out there. Why don’t we chill with the internet cancel brigade, if you ordered one I’m sure you can still reach out and you’ll get a response.

what if i told you this has been debated a million times and photographers that do so have already decided it’s worth taking the picture, and trying to set some sort of moral high ground over it has zero effect. Every time I tell people this, their immediate next response is that they will assault me. If they think taking a flash photo is equal force to physical assault, they’re not really the moral high ground they pretend to be. If you don’t like it, call me an asshole in the street. We’ll both move on from it.
