The Behringer 1027 adds sequencing to the Arp 2500 series and has some interesting features to offer. Despite having three channels and some modulation capabilities, the 1027 is a quite rudimentary 3 channel sequencer with no quantization, no range selection and no individual channel transport. Welcome to the analog world!
0:00 intro and general layout
2:00 the quirky internal clock
5:40 the step input
6:07 morphable waveform VCO
7:17 analog it is
8:42 self modulation
10:13 shorten the sequence
11:17 chain the channels (with the 1050)
12:21 form factor and limitations
13:38 outro
13:55 demo #1: 3 channel fun
18:32 demo #2: morphable waveform osc (with 182 module as sequencer)
23:08 longer version of the intro tune
Thanks for watching & stay tuned!

I miss my 960, but not the 54hp it occupied, so I now have one of these on its way to me. It will fit nicely in one of my 40hp skiffs.

Great description of the Sequencer and its uses. Thinking about getting the 2500 series modules, to go along with my 2600 synth. Like your combination of the 2500 and 100 series modules, very powerful setup. Thanks for sharing, and best wishes for your continued success.

Great overview. Just a small addition (excuse me if you did mention it and I missed it): the step function is also very useful to use the sequencer with an external clock (for instance to sync it to a DAW). There's even some quite unpredictable but useful behavior where if you use the step input as an external input while running the internal clock at the same time you can get some nice polyrhythms going.
@synthesizer83
@synthesizer83 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I might have missed this while talking about the audio rate advancing. The "normal" use of this input is as you said, and these polyrhythms are very interresting!

I like that tip bout the step input while running the internal clock, I never imagined polyrhythms on a step sequencer- really cool!

Well the SQ-1 being so flexible... BUT! * It is quantized (that is, DIGITAL). * It doesn't feature a RESET INPUT, which is very important for me.
@synthesizer83
@synthesizer83 2 жыл бұрын
True! And: It doesn't keep its speed and tuning when you switch it off and on again. Differences are subtle, but still very frustrating when you accidentally unplug it.

I bought the 962 sequential switch module to essentially turn the 1027 into a 24 step sequencer if I so choose to do so :) Threw in a Pico quantizer as well for quick and easy accurate pitch. Have you done any calibration of the 1004's? The 1v/octave tracking on my modules are terrible :/ I ran them through a tuner to check pitch drift between frequencies and had some major drift unfortunately.
@synthesizer83
@synthesizer83 2 жыл бұрын
Yep, without quantizer, taming this 24 step beast is quite elaborate... The 1004 is fine here, and I usually try to avoid fiddling around with any tuning trimmers cause I worsen things there usually ;) With the unquantized sequencers from the 2500 series it doesn't matter anyway if the tracking is good, cause you just tune by ear...

Hi , thanks for the great video , can you explain how to patch it for the 24 step sequence? I just got some of the modules and can't seem to figure it out ? do you need 3 osc to do it or can you do it with one osc ?
@synthesizer83
@synthesizer83 8 ай бұрын
You can use the 1050 to switch between the sequences of the 1027. After 8 steps you switch to the next, then to the next, and so on. So 3x8 gives you the full 24 step experience.

Hmm CLK OUT might be working only if the internal clock is running. Otherwise, if you provide an external clock, grab a multiple and use it for the envelope as well.

No it's very basic, just plays every step. However, you could use the second track and a VCA or VC switch to mute certain steps.
